I want my students to understand that math is not an inherit talent, but that is achieved through practice, practice, practice! I also want them to understand that there are many ways of getting to the same answer, and that not every way may necessarily work for them, and does not need to work for them. A third thing I want my students to understand is that making mistakes is not a bad thing! Mistakes are opportunities to learn and grow from. Lastly, I want my students to be aware that their classmates, partners, peers, etc., are all resources to learn from and that it is great to learn from others and each other.
-Karolina

Growth Mindset
Michelle Andrade
I want students to know that in math, there is never one right way, but several ways. Sometimes students are stuck in learning one certain math strategy, that they eventually stress over not being able to fully learn it. Exposing them to many strategies can provide that support. Working in pairs or in groups is highly important in math as well.
