         <title>1825 - Iron Plow</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>In 1825, Jethro Wood created the Iron Plow. This invention was a huge upgrade from past plow designs, which were mainly made from wood and pulled by oxen. The design was later improved by John Deere which made it faster and easier to pull.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>In 1834, Philo Stewart created a cast-iron stove that was small enough to fit into a regular home. The stove was very successful, selling 90,000. This was an important invention because it showed how factories were slowly changing the lives of everyday people. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Groups of young women who were hired to work in Lowell Mills were called Lowell Girls. The Lowell Girls would typically work for a few years before returning home. These women were important because they served as some of the first mill workers, which set a precedent that women and young girls would be factory and mill workers.</p>]]></description>

Children as young as 7 years old would work in textile mills and other factories. They were helpful because they could squeeze into small spaces. However, the work environments for the children were very dangerous because most factory owners didn't pay attention to safety regulation.</p>]]></description>

And while the urbanization brought way to many more factories and mass produced goods, it also brought way to pollution, waste, and disease. Cities didn't have sewage systems or proper waste disposal, which led to pollution and waste. There was also epidemics of cholera, due to the mass amounts of waste, which killed many people.</p>]]></description>

The telegraph was a monumental invention because it brought way to quick long distance communication. As its popularity grew, Morse brought his invention to the Supreme Court and the telegraph was able to send messages in and out of the building within seconds. This invention entirely changed long distance communication forever.</p>]]></description>

A few years later, Isaac Singer improved on the design and popularized it in factories and mills. This sewing machine made it easier and quicker to make clothes. Using the machine, workers could make dozens of shirts in the time it took to make only one by hand.</p>]]></description>
