Progress is a synonym for innovation and can also be a synonym for expansion so yes progress helps everyone because without innovation people would still be doing the same prehistoric caveman like actions. People who benefited from expansions like the Louisiana Purchase were the U.S. The text "Exploring the Louisiana Purchase" states "President Jefferson feared that France would require Americans to pay heavy taxes to use the river for shipping and to export goods from the port of New Orleans. Jefferson offered to buy the port of New Orleans from France. He was surprised when Napoleon offered the entire territory of 828,000 square miles for only $15 million. Jefferson’s purchase more than doubled the size of the United States and provided American settlers with fertile land and valuable resources." This shows that the United States grew from buying territory. This led to the Corps of Discovery voyage. The people who were affected were the Native American's because the Americans had now taken over their land and slaves who were forced to work on farmers plantations.

Progress is moving more steps into the right direction or the ultimate goal. Progress is not meant to help or benefit everyone because everyone doesn't have the same goal or want everyone to be benefited. That is why during the Expansion the people that had the positive effect was everybody in favor of Jefferson and his "agriculture based society" according to the source "changing direction of the country. The source also says Jefferson believed that using the Louisiana purchase to spread farms would help economically because of farmers independence. The people who suffered would be all the industrial workers because Jefferson didn't agree with all the factories and wanted people to have more Independence. The enslaved African Americans was the most who suffered because that meant more labor for cheap or no pay. Finally the last people who suffered was the American colonist. According to the source "The Louisiana Purchase" before Jefferson bought the land he feared that Napoleon would charge hefty taxes to the Americans for shipping goods on the Mississippi river. So Jefferson bought the land to solve the tax problem but was still in trouble because he added more debt to the nation.

Progress is making the next step in a forward direction. Progress is about moving forward, and in the right direction. Progress can and can't benefit everyone. It can benefit everyone by helping a group of people because they can proceed in the right direction. It can't benefit everyone because some people want to stay exactly where they are, and not make any progress at all.

The people who benefited from the expansion (the Louisiana Purchase) was the United States. In the source "Exploring the Louisiana Purchase" the text states, " Jefferson’s purchase more than doubled the size of the United States and provided American settlers with fertile land and valuable resources." This quote shows how the United States expanded, and helped their new settlers come into America with new land and new sources. This also relates back to progress because it shows how America is moving into a new direction as they try to become a new dominant world power.

The people who didn't benefit from the Westward Expansion were the Native Americans. The Native Americans lost their land where they built their home, their hunting grounds, and part of their freedom, as they eventually were forced to move to reservations.

In 1803 the U.S. made some progress to building our nation so we can live like we are living today.

In 1803, the Louisiana Territory was a huge piece of undeveloped land on the western border of the United States. He bought the territory for 15 million dollars from Napoleon Bonaparte. This land purchase is considered the biggest land steal of all time. In the source Exploring the Louisiana Purchase it states, " President Jefferson feared that France would require Americans to pay heavy taxes to use the river for shipping and to export goods from the port of New Orleans." All of the people living in America benefited from this purchase because it gave us more land to harvest and more space to progress our country.

In my opinion progress does not help everyone. I think progress does not help everyone because if people are work together as as group, company, ect. they are able to get stuff done faster as a whole but other people can be left behind. An example of this is "The President Cabinet." In this video it talks about how the president selected cabinet member to help him with his task of protecting the united states. The video "The President Cabinet" states "Cabinet's solve different matters." This shows different cabinet members do different thing and when they do those different task they make progress. This connect to the question about progress helping everyone because the progress they make effects the country as a whole and can either bring down the people around them which can doesn't help them move forward. In this process some people will be able to keep up with these decisions while other people will not benefit from it and will not be able to keep up which can cause them fail in the long run. The people that benefit from expansion were land owners. The people who did not benefit from it was native Americans.

The source " Americans embrace westward expansion" states white Americans saw expansion as a major opportunity, as it promised independence and success. The source " Americans embrace westward expansion" also states native Americans resisted american expansion, and plantation slavery was expanded beyond the coastal areas. This proves it benefited white Americans because they believed that expansion could give them better opportunity and a new life. This also proves it affected the Indians and African Americans because expansions pushed the Indians out of their territory, and slavery was expanded across the whole country.
In 1790 the fast growing population of the united states had reached 3.9 million. By 1820 the total U.S population had reached 9.6 million. Rapid population growth and western expansion caused a great deal of conflict. Hamilton states " the new nation should have a national mint to standardized currency.... to help the young america develop industry and promote business". This proves that progress helps everyone because as Hamilton stated the US. should have a national bank this means that by having a national bank will promote or help the progress of business which would help the country as a whole. I also say that progress helps because today we would still be slaves and still would be owned by the whites. Progress also helps because it helps everyone economically, socially, and mentally. The text "Jefferson vs Hamilton" states that they would help the young America develop industry and promote business." This quote proves that they were not stopping when it came to making America better. I could connect this to today because some people that have had bad lives they try hard to change them. The text "The United States gains Spanish Florida" states that they found slaves trying to escape to Florida. This proves that those were some of the slaves that wanted a better life for themselves .I could connect this to history because slaves did not want to be there so they tried to do everything they could do to be free.

America was originally 13 colonies and now it has 50 states and America is one of the most powerful countries in the world. In the text "The expanding of American Republic and the war of 1812" it states that "the Louisiana Purchase of 1803 added a huge piece of new territory to the united states." The Louisiana purchase gave the united states Arkansas,Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming. This not only gave America new land but more space to explore and find new resources for trade and development. Trading which is a part of America's progression.

I think that progress helps everyone because that's the only way that you get good at completing things you get better at them you start to see progress in what you are doing I think that progress helped the untied states when they went through a dramatic change during the 19th century and they began to progress and change their styles. I agree with Andre because if the world did not progress we would still be in a war with our own race and the white race because of progress the world has come to be a better place
1. Andre how did you come up with that understanding on how progress helps everyone

the people that suffered were the slaves because they had no way of progressing as one because they had no intelligence to progress because they had no books and nothing to teach them and the ones who didn't suffer was the whites because they had the skills to crop and do things like walk freely and they could read and write without their hands being cut off because of touching a book

I dont think that progress helps everyone. I say this because everyone might not agree with the plan or action that might cause progress. For example in the article "An Overview of U.S. Westward Expansion" it said that while the U.S. was expanding westward it caused them to go to war with mexico because of a disagreement and i know that it caused a lot of casualties. and that caused a lot of lives lost, so people are taking losses. That the reason that I dont think progress helps everyone
