e.g.: verbs/tenses/adjectives/ pronouns/frequency/expressions/opinions etc. are all in a specific colour. The pupils decide on a generic title for each colour and create a success criteria list as a class.
After they have finished their own writing task, they swap their pieces of writing and peer-check that they have met all the success criteria. 
You can make this more fun by allocating a certain amount of points for each parts of the success criteria and see who has scored the highest!
