I think the costume box drama lesson is great to tie into my ELA lesson, and I think it’s such a fun way for students to practice sight words. They will get to use props to represent the correct sight word in a sentence, which makes it more interactive. I love this because it turns learning into a hands on experience while also bringing in drama and acting to keep them engaged!

I would turn the news reporter game into a fun sight word activity for the students. Students pretend to be news anchors, reporters, and eyewitnesses, but instead of the tech news, they report on a given sight word. The anchor introduces the word, the reporter asks where it was seen, and the eyewitness uses it in a sentence. After the reports, students search the room for their word. This would make learning sight words fun and exciting while keeping them engaged with roleplay!

I chose this lesson but instead of acting out nursery rhymes or rhyming words, students will act out the meaning of the given sight word. I would write different sight words on cards and have students draw one out of the box. The student will then act out the word while their classmates try to guess it. Once the correct word is guessed, the class works together to place it in a sentence correctly.
