Reynie starts out as a sad, hopeful orphan at the beginning of the book. Yet, throughout the book, as he meets new friends and nicer people, he turns into a strong, careful leader who manages to mess up evil Mr. Curtain's plans.

*I really liked this book, I highly recommend it.
