         <description><![CDATA[<div>Living during world war 2 she left her position at Robert Russa Moton High School in Farmville, VA to take what she thought would be a temporary war job. Jim Crow laws which required newly-hired "colored" mathematicians to work separately from their white female counterparts. Dorothy Vaughan was assigned to the segregated "West Area Computing" unit, a black group of female mathematicians, who were originally required to use separate dining and bathroom facilities. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Dorothy, born in 1910 and died in 2008. She was a Manager of NASA and mathmatican. Being a math teacher at Russa Moton High school,&nbsp; while being in the mist of WW2 she decided to take a temporary job in the war. That temporary job turned into a long term job and in 1949 was promoted tobeing a leader of the NACA. She was the first black supervisor in the NACA. Being the section leader gave Dorothy rare Laboratory-wide visibility, and she collaborated with other known (white) computers like Vera Huckel and Sara Bullock on projects such as making a handbook for algebraic methods for calculating machines. Dorothy was with west computing for nearly a decade.</div>]]></description>
