But I've hardly worked on stop motion with the puppet in this project.
 
There are several main reasons
 
1. I don't know what the other students want the finished product to look like. The frame rate of this animation is 15 frames per second (stop-motion). But the actual shot frame is only five frames most of the time; then they would extend each frame thrice. I think 5 frames is almost impossible to make big movements like walking and running . And even if you do that, the movement will not be smooth. So when I animate the puppet, I tend to animate the action very small to increase the actual frame. That's when I get replaced because I animate the puppet slowly. And the clown puppet has a weak skeleton and a weak center of gravity. He can't stand on his own. He usually relies on props. It's very easy to fall when people animate the puppet. It is especially obvious to me.
 
The second reason is that my eyesight is very poor in the dark studio even though I wear glasses. I would move props by accident. The most typical example is when we shoot the clown walking on the stairs, and I'm responsible for holding the doll when it gets to the top of the stairs (but my hands can't be in the shot), and they look at the computer to replay the stop motion. My foot accidentally stepped on a wire or something and tripped, and the scene shifted. The stairs scene was shot only 80 percent. However, when I later checked the animation of that scene frame by frame in Procreate, I found that the set had shifted before the doll went up the stairs. In addition, since the dolls were not ready when the props were prepared in the early stage, the sizes of all the props and the dolls were only about right, which made the stairs too small for the clown to stand on. Then the handle of the stairs rocked the puppet's body as it passed by. The scene was not changed in the final film because of the tight filming schedule.
