This song keeps having a different kind of life. During the Gulf War, it was a song of the war.  After Hurricane Katrina, it was a song for life and hope, and then after 9/11, it was a song of unity and rebuilding. It unites American citizens across the country.

This song does not perpetrate stereotypes. In fact, it celebrates the diversity of our nation. Though America is diverse, we all share this unbreakable spirit. This song is not culturally offensive, and it does give hope of unity to America and inspires and motivates citizens to be a positive and active member of our society.

This song does not perpetrate stereotypes nor is it culturally offensive. "Man in the Mirror" motivates and inspires listeners to look at themselves first before criticizing others. This is the only way our world will change. We have to be that change.

This song did not perpetrate stereotypes and was not culturally offensive. Pitbull speaks out on his hopes of freedom for Cuba, which in turn gives hope to the people who live there. Given Pitbull is a well known artist in America, it also raises awareness of freedom within our country.

Message: The main theme of the movie is judging people based on their character, not on their outward appearance. When Michael Oher first joined Briarcrest Christian School, there were many teachers who felt that he was unreachable, simply because he was large and black. They judged him on his ability before they had even given him a chance.  The entire movie is filled with examples of characters making snap judgments about people that, upon further inspection, prove to be completely false.
Stereotypes, Myths, Privilege, Sexism, Ageism, Inspiration: This movie does perpetrate the negative stereotype of African Americans. In the movie, the white people are the ones continually judging Michael because of his race. Privilege is evident all throughout this movie. Whites have nice housing, nice cars, are treating a certain way in school, and are used to getting what they want. Michael lives in a poverty stricken area, has no means of transportation, and is treated differently. The fact that these people treat Michael differently because of his status could be offensive to the African American culture. This movie did not dispel any myths, nor portray sexism or ageism. This movie definitely inspires and motivates the viewer to be more accepting and compassionate of others. It teaches them to stop judging others based on external factors.

Message: A few of the themes within this movie is the power of voice, and the power of love. Walker emphasizes throughout the movie that the ability to express one’s thoughts and feelings is crucial to developing a sense of self. This movie portrays female friendships as a means for women to summon the courage to tell stories. In turn, these stories allow women to resist oppression and dominance. Relationships among women form a refuge, providing love in a world filled with male violence.
Stereotypes, Myths, Privilege, Sexism, Ageism, Inspiration: This movie does perpetrate stereotypes of black women and also white men. They portray black women as nothing more than slaves, and white men as nothing more than violent animals. This movie did not dispel any myths, or ageism. However, privilege is evident throughout the film. The whites are privileged with appropriate housing, and are free to roam about. The black women are forced to work the entire day, are beaten, and mistreated. The film also portrays sexism. In this movie, the men are dominate and have all control over women. The men say and do as they wish while the women are merely property. The color purple is the color of imagination and spirituality. I think this waschosen to inspire women to rise above domestic violence and sexism to find their self worth.
