Things are not funny, a teacher tried to force a muslim student to eat pork. Teachers and students need educated and they make jokes about topics of importance to us. Racism, Islamaphobia, but also issues of erasure and invisiblility...racialization of Arab American--census data, history of Arab in America needs to be taught, like the story of Nagi in UFW, Arab Americans in UAW, labor--workers rights and divestment from Israel. History helps students to understand one another, it helps breakdown stereotypes and myths. Professional development for educators--I can count the number of times that I heard we will get to Palestine, but it never comes up. The role of Arab Americans in the fight for ethnic studies, past and present. Resistance: Shutting down airports during the muslim ban, anti-war movements--- when trump open cages for immigrants, Arabs were involved in anti-immigrants..After trump the war against our communities and country--we remained active in anti-war. Teach from a pro-Palestine pov (not the bad guy) connect to indigenous struggles.
