Additionally, these environmental impacts lead to the loss of wildlife, soil, air and water where sugar is produced ("Sugar and the environment...", 2005). Sugar production negatively impacts our environment. Sugar production also impacts animals. In result of the unused plant matter being washed away from the sugar mills and decomposing in freshwater, the waste absorbs a large amount of CO2 causing fish to die.
