Salvation through Grace
"But here you are in the land of the living and in the house of God, and you have an opportunity to obtain salvation. What would not those poor damned hopeless souls give for one day's opportunity such as you now enjoy!" (Edwards 110)
In this quote Jonathan Edwards uses the salvation of grace as his main theme, he is basically saying how fortunate these people are to be able to attend the house of God and obtain salvation. He uses "poor damned helpless souls" as incentive for people to join the house of God. This relates to the chosen theme because Edwards is talking about how people can obtain salvation through the grace of God.

"many are daily coming from the east, west, north, and south; many that were very lately in the same miserable condition that you are in are now in a happy state with their hearts filled with love to Him who has loved them, and washed them from their sins in His own blood, and rejoicing in hope of the glory of God" (Edwards 111)
In this quote Edwards, talks about how so many people far and wide have traveled to the house of God to wash themselves of their sins. Each time God would fill their hearts with love and wash them of their sins with his own blood. This relates to the chosen theme because Edwards talks about how even people from far and wide are able to obtain salvation from grace.
