I use a format that is made available to me as a grad student in my own classroom. I provide my students with a PowerPoint that can be downloaded prior to lecture. The students can edit the PowerPoint as the lecture continues with the student filling in the PP with his or her own notes. This creates a useful video file that can be expanded by re-watching the lecture and adding anything that was missed.

1) Treat an online course like a “real” course. ( I must “show up” if I am going to get real value out of my class. Treating my online classes the same way I would treat a face-to-face class—or, better yet, a job—and I’ll be off to the right start.
2) Practice time management. ( I look at the syllabus at the start of the semester and I make note of major assignments. I mark them on a calendar I check regularly so I know what workload is coming in the weeks ahead.
3) Eliminate distractions. (From Netflix to social media to dishes piling up in the skink, I'll be faced with many distractions that can easily derail my studies. But I try ti be the best online students by lessening these distractions and setting aside time to focus.
(Lara Abdelahad)

Two tips that I found really important were to practice time management and treating my online courses the same way I would if they were in person. I refuse to miss any of my lectures even though they are zoom recordings too. It is far better to show up to class and actively participate and you will be more engaged than if you were listening to a recording. It is crucial to practice time management even though we are just at home for our classes. We still have assignments to complete that may even be more difficult because they are online. I make a note of all of my upcoming assignments and categorize them by class and how soon they are due. It feels really rewarding and I feel a great sense of relief every time I check an item off of the list. (Rida).

The tips that I found useful for my own college experience are time management, taking good notes, and staying motivated. Time management is very important especially for online learning because we are at home and there are many distractions to throw away time and not use it effectively. Getting work done before getting distracted is the best way to time manage. Taking good notes is also another great tip because it will help you learn and succeed in classes. Lastly, staying motivated is also important because of all the distractions and other things going on in our lives. Making school a priority is must when wanting to succeed.

1) Going to class instead of being a full time zoom student.
For me personally I have trouble focusing and learning when my class is through zoom. So going to a class where I have the teacher right in front of me really helps me focus and learn better.
2) Time management
This helps me turn in my assignments on time. I have an app on my IPad called GoodNotes and I write down all my assignments here and depending on whats going on in the week I base my schedule around what is happening and what is due. So I write when I want to work on an assignment and complete it on that day.
3) Office Hours
I use office hours a lot actually and I also email my teachers whenever I need help. Doing this helps me clarify any issues that I have with any certain topics and the teachers help clarify any questions I have.
(Genesis Rodriguez)

1. A tip I found useful was asking any and all the questions you have. I personally used to struggled with not being embarrassed of asking questions. If you're in your room in a zoom meeting do not hesitate to ask any questions because no one can see you and won't have to feel the pressure of others breaking their necks to look at you.
Another tip I found useful had to do with balancing school and other aspects of my life. They suggested using sticky notes and planners to write everything out. Once you complete something cross it off so you can have a sense of accomplishment . I personally used to never write anything out for me but starting this year I really had to change and made sure I had everything written out so I can see it right in font of me.

1) Something that I have been having trouble with during this time is finding motivation to keep up with my work. I always get my work done, but I tend to procrastinate. Something that was mentioned in the recording was keeping a to-do list and checking things off once you finish them. I have started to do that more this semester, and I will continue to do it because I have found it to be really helpful.
2) I have also been having trouble allocating time for my work. Although I have plenty of time to do my work (I don't have a job or anything I need to leave my house for), at the beginning of the semester, I was still mentally on my high school schedule: go to classes during the day, and do homework and studying later at night. The presenters suggest getting better at time management and studying more efficiently, which is something that I will continue to work on in the spring.
(Emma Stolinas)

I am mostly on my phone and one of the tips was to put your phone away or turn it off while doing something related to school to focus more.
2.Another tip said was to go to office hours to help study. I will defiantly utilize the office hours now knowing I need help studying for certain classes.
3.Another helpful study I will utilize is setting timers while studying. I will set a 30 minute timer to tell me when I can take a short break then get back right to studying.
(Jaden Crudup)

One thing that I started off the year doing was keeping all of my assignments in a list and erased them off as I did them. I quickly fell out of doing this because I started to push assignments closer to the deadline . In the beginning of the semester, I would do my work as I got it and kept track of everything but now I procrastinate and lose track of what needs to be done when. I would like to go back to what I was doing before and continue that through next semester and the next few years. It was a lot easier to keep track of assignments and plan for them as needed.
Another tip is asking for help. Whether it is the teacher or another classmate, it is good to ask for help on something that is hard to understand. It will allow me to learn more instead of trying to get through the course or lesson without understanding what I'm doing. (Brendan Richard)

First off, definitely be more attentive and treat the class like it is a normal, in person, face to face class. One thing I definitely struggle with is getting motivated enough to do stuff and putting effort into classes. Treat it like a normal school day and act like you would in front of a teacher and an entire class. Second is cut the distractions. While getting lectured it is easy for me to look at my phone and become lost in it, or start messing with stuff in my room. Cut those distractions out, find a safe, quiet, and peaceful space to do your work and it is almost guaranteed you will be more focus, attentive, and do better.
(Grant Daubert)

The calendar function in Canvas helps with this a lot, but recognizing that teachers don't put everything on Canvas keeps me focused on keeping track of assignments.
2.

1. A big tip would be if you’re a huge procrastinator, it’s always helpful to look over what your weekly assignments will look like. this would help you push through and get it done and ready or maybe do it in advance during the weekend. it’s always good to keep yourself focus and motivated in doing homework and passing through the semester.
2. Keeping your teachers posted on how you’re doing and asking questions is never a bothersome to them. it’s always nice to have reassurance if you’re doing the assignment right and getting all the points that you should be aiming for.
(trina c)

1. One practice that I would continue to participate is to do all my assignments and that if I have any question, then I should go office hours. I feel like there were a lot of times where I saw an assignment and wouldn't do it because it was worth two points and it just ended up biting me back. Sometimes those two points can help you understand the content more. As well, being in office hours could be could be more helpful than an email.
2. The second practice would be time management. Before I started writing on my board about assignments, I would think I have a lot time to do an assignment when in reality I didn't. It helped me visualize what I was doing that whole week.
