I enjoy rice not only because it tastes delicious, but also because it is simple to prepare, especially with my all-time favorite Zojirushi np hcc10xh rice cooker. So, today I'm going to share with you my recipe for aromatic basmati rice cooked in a rice cooker. The recipe is super simple and only requires a few ingredients. So, let’s get started!

Ingredients

- 1 cup of long grain (basmati) rice

- 2 cups of water

- 1 tbsp of ghee (Indian clarified butter)

- 1 tsp salt

- 1-inch cinnamon stick

- 4 cloves

- 1 bay leaf

- 1 black cardamom

- 2 tsp of cumin seeds (jeera)

Directions

Step 1: Wash the rice until the water runs clear by putting it in a pan and stirring and draining it. Repeat the process until the water runs clear. (This will have to be repeated several times.)

Step 2: Soak your rice for around 30 minutes in water.

Step 3: Turn on the rice cooker and add ghee.

Step 4: Add 2 tsp cumin seeds and wait for it to crackle for a few seconds. Stir in the bay leaf, cardamom, cinnamon stick, and cloves for approximately a minute.

Step 5: Add 2 cups of water in the rice cooker and bring it to a boil. To cook rice properly, use twice the amount of water. So, for 1 cup of rice, add 2 cups of water, and for 2 cups, double the amount.

Step 6: Add salt to the boiling water.

Step 7: Now add soaked rice (after draining water) into the cooker and cook for 20 minutes or until your rice cooker goes to the “Keep Warm” mode automatically.

Step 8: Gently fluff up the rice using a fork rather than plunging in with a spoon.

Your fragrant basmati rice is now ready to serve. You can serve this rice with whatever curry you like. Take a spoonful of this rice and enjoy it!
