I tried to really blend the colors well with my white, but at some points I used my finger. I got a lot of colors with the primaries, which was very predictable and may be a bit of a cop out, but I really love how they all turned out. In the sky I really tried to do warmer colors, and as you look down I tried to fade into more cool colors for a good contrast. I think that I could have easily shift my creature down or to the side a bit more, because he looks pretty centered and that would have made for a better composition, but I think its better that you see his whole body because that adds to the light contrast above the darks. I was trying the impact that plastic has on the environment. It doesn’t go away, and it is very degrading to our planet. I thought I was going to end up crumpling up the bottle over time, but Heather advised me not to and I think that was a good choice. I wanted to convey the destruction that plastic causes. I wanted to make the whole thing look as realistic as I could and I think that it worked out. I used a lot of blue and white in this piece. I got a lot of suggestions to make the grass more realistic, so on my last work day I just worked on the grass. I really like the background, because I just really took my time on it and I didn’t really look at any reference so I was just having fun making my own little landscape. I also think that because I kind of just did whatever I wanted for the first project and it looked good, I decided to do that with the rest of my projects, and I just really went for whatever I wanted to draw. When ever I would mess up or just reach a point where I didn’t know what to do, I just kept on going and adding stuff, and, for the most part, it ended up looking pretty good. I think as I continue to draw, I need to work on my backgrounds a bit more. I think that my projects where the background was a main part in the overall composition look pretty good, but my last background for the figure project, although it isn’t finished, is sloppy and if I’m being honest it is heavily rushed and I didn’t put much thought into it at all, but I need to work on that and have the big picture for a drawing in my head when I’m doing bigger things next time.
