Lowered to 18 because nowadays people below 18 also start smoking and if we increase the age , people below 21 would still do it. Then if we increase , more people would smoke and smoking can cause lung cancer and bronchitis, the people have high risk of death and it can also cause a passive smoking for those who doesn't smoke. As the statistics of underage smoking is more than half (51.7%) participants started smoking even before the age of 18 for example the age of 15,16,17 and lower.

the legal age for smoking we think it should be raised because at the age of 21 our body needs to stay healthy, for the guys some have not went for army. we need to stay healthy if not in the army we will have a hard time and might get lung cancer in the long run. in order to prevent lung cancer the age should be raised to a certain number of age e.g 25 after our body has fully developed. but the best is to not pick up smoking as an habit because it will really cause lung cancer and it will led yo death. STOP SMOKING.STAY HEALTHY. EXERCISE REGULARLY. SAY NO TO CIGARETTES.

The government should subsidise medical care for diseases caused by smoking because it would help in lives that would be saved and smokers should have the right to healthcare just like everybody else. And the government should provide programs for nicotine replacement therapy to stop the harmful habit of smoking which they already do in Singapore. Nicotine replacement therapy increases the rate of quitting by 50-70%. They should also provide chemotherapy for smokers who already have diseases from smoking such as lung cancer. According to https://www.singaporecancersociety.org.sg/learn-about-cancer/types-of-cancer/lung-cancer.html, 14% of all cancer incidences in men were lung cancer cases. For women, the figure is 7.5%. Meanwhile, being the leading cause of cancer deaths in Singapore in men at 26.4%, lung cancer also accounted for 15.7% of cancer mortalities in females. In conclusion, singspore should subsidise medical care for diseases caused by smoking to assist in lives that could be saved.

Yes, smokers should be charged in court if they smoke infront of their family members because they can potentially kill them by smoking Harmful cigarette chemicals. 🚭Which makes the family members a passive smoker. It is more dangerous for a passive smoker rather then the smoker themselves because when the smokers smoke cigarettes, the cigarette have a filter to filter out SOME of the chemicals . But when you are a passive smoker and you breathe in the harmful chemicals you breathe in not some but ALL the harmful chemicals because there is not filter. The chemicals that are found in cigarette are tar , nicotine , irritant , carbon monoxide. When the smokers smoke they think their family members won't be affected but they actually more affected by the smokers themselves. In Singapore their are many people (teens) getting caught smoking underage and at restricted areas . Smoking is not banned but its not advised to do. Same goes for vaping e-cigarettes. The only difference between vaping and smoking is that vaping is banned and smoking isn't. The reason why people teenagers smoke and vape is because of peer pressure—their friends encourage them to try cigarettes and to keep smoking. They see smoking as a way of rebelling and showing independence. They think that everyone else is smoking and that they should, too. The tobacco industry has used clever marketing tactics to specifically target teenagers.

DONT SMOKE .

Yes smokers should be charged. Just because they smoke, they affect their families live. They also understand that it is their own fault as they already know the risks of smoking. But they still smoke around their family and relatives which could cause passive smoking for their loved ones. If there are infants around them, they could be affected through passive smoking at a very young age. In a case brought by Ministry of health, there was a rise of 296 death tolls from passive smoking in Singapore. The number may be small but the reason for their death is alarming as they are victims of passive smoking.

Yes. In my opinion vaping should be banned in Singapore, the reason i said so is because of the reasons below.

1. Even though vaping seems harmless in comparison to cigarettes they actually contain hidden chemicals like Formaldehyde is known to cause infertility as well. Toxic metal nanoparticles like tin and lead, this is often ignored by people who vape as they think its all good.

URL : https://www.healthhub.sg/live-healthy/lets-get-real-about-vaping#:~:text=Vaping%20is%20not%20harmless&text=Commonly%20found%20substances%20include%20cancer,vapouriser%20device%20itself%20%5B2%5D.

Date accessed : 20 February 2024

2.People often think vapes are easy to quit and they could just quit anytime they want but in reality it is easier said then done.

Yes, they should restrict the places for smoking inside buildings. People will inhale the tobacco smoke, it is called passive smoking. Smoking around people such as elderly’s and children’s are harmful to them. If it’s in a food court, it will affect the people who are eating as it will interrupt their meal and peace. Places that are prohibited to smoke are hospitals, playgrounds, public housing and etc, by NEA and wikipedia. With this, the government should restrict places for smokers, to lower the rate of smoking in Singapore.

Yes,Majority of passive smokers have no intention of smoking as they know the harmful chemicals that a cigarette contain. When a passive smoker get disease like lung cancer, the smoker who let out their toxic smoke should be held accountable. Especially when it happened at home as Singapore has a law that smoking in HDB flats, corridors and void deck is illegal. When someone smoke in their house, the toxic fumes can travel to their neighbours and houses nearby and harming their neighbour and their children. In 2019,estimated annual deaths attributable to second-hand smoke for Singapore to be 296.A survey was done to smokers to which more than 2,100 people have responded. They were “urging for help, not for themselves but really for their children and for family members who have respiratory illness”. So yes I agree that smokers should be held accountable for harming people around them and be charged in court. However, there are passive smokers who voluntarily surround themselves with smokers and breathe in the toxic fumes. So it depends if it's voluntarily or not
