CLO2, 4
This module will be of particular interest to students who are keen to understand the intricate mechanisms that propel AI. A strong interest and aptitude for Mathematics and Computer Programming are desirable. Early approaches to AI (Classical AI) were primarily concerned with attempts to understand the processing power of the human brain from the outside. The aim was to replicate human intelligence in a machine. Aspects that characterise human beings as intelligent include the ability to search, rationalise logic, reason based on evidence and solve ill-structured problems. Guided by exemplars, students will explore how real-world problems can be solved using logic, reasoning and unreasoning using principles of AI. By the end of this module, students will be equipped with knowledge and skills to design and code for ‘intelligence’.
