I like how you slowed down the scene where you almost got hit; there was a lot of detail  there and I felt like I was experiencing everything that you were feeling. I also liked the word choice used in your short story; it made the story more realistic and descriptive. I think that your vignette could be even better if you added even more detail, like what color the car was, or your dad's reaction (like his face expression).
