Academic Effort & Grades

Understanding that there is value in learning for the sake of learning! Grades are important but they are not everything. I hear kids stressing out about their grades. I think we need to show there is a connection between effort and doing one's best and getting a grade that reflects that. A's are the result of a growth mindset, positive attitude, and effort.

I know this is more of a district issue that just SMS, but there should be a way to educate kids and parents about how they deal with COVID at home. It seems that some kids are only staying out a couple days, some kids are being told not to say they have COVID when they do, and no kids are returning to school wearing a mask for an additional 5 days.

Second Floor- students should not be coming up to the second floor in the morning or afternoon unless they have a class.

Locker usage - students are at them all day long - Not just designated times.

I remind them all the time but they are still using them to check their phones, get gum and hang around.
