Question 1: What have I learned about digital literacy?/ What does it mean to me?

-Digital literacy is a way that students can find/use information to create a way of learning.
-Students are able to communicate with each other, find information, evaluate information, and be creative when it comes to learning.
*In the article by Lanshear and Kobel, on page 3, they state "Digital literacy enables us to match the medium we use to the kind of information we are presenting to the audience we are presenting to" (Lankshear & Knobel, p. 3).
-Flexible and individual
-Digital literacy is a way for all students to learn in the classroom
*"Digital literacies can open us up to making potentially illuminating connections between literacy learning, meaning, and experiences of agency, efficacy, and pleasure that we might not otherwise make" (Lankshear and Knobel, p. 9).
-Giving students the opportunity to experience many different variations of digital literacy can have a very positive impact on their learning.

Personal experience--Traveling
-Made learning more enjoyable and I became very interested in a subject and would research about it and watch videos on my own time.
-I believe by providing multiple ways of digital literacy in the classroom, students will enjoy learning.
Question 2: How is reading online different than reading text?

-Easier to come across a variety of texts.
-Many different perspectives on one text.
*"The Internet presents an optimal context for practice with these knowledge-creating processes since learners are connected with infinite texts, global perspectives, and a multitude of digital tools that enable the construction and communication of creative ideas" (Coiro, p. 54).
-Online texts are easier to access.
-Think of libraries.
Question 3: Did I have my own personal growth and deepening of understanding of digital tools and literacy?

Absolutely! I believe that this entire class has given me growth each week when it comes to different digital tools and digital literacies. I have loved getting to explore the different tools that I can implement into my future classroom. These are all tools that I believe will strengthen and benefit my students learning. I want to make my classroom an enjoyable and successful place where learning takes place. I have also had growth in learning about how to ensure that I am using technology in a multimodal way that leads to deeper and more interactive learning, instead of using technology as a fad.
*"We want, or rather, we need today's students to critically consume information, to create and share across time and space, to concrete and collaborate to solve problems, to persevere in light of setbacks, and to maintain flexibility. Digital literacies provide opportunities for the inquiries that will develop these skills" (Hicks and Turner, p. 59).
-Google docs (I have used this and believe it is a wonderful digital tool to incorporate into the classroom).
*"Allows students to collaborate on a writing project, spreadsheets, or presentations" (Mckee-Waddell, p. 28).

I have gained a deeper understanding digital tools and digital literacy throughout this course and how it involves a lot of collaboration with students.

Question 4: How will this impact or influence the ways you approach digital component in and out of the classroom?

This class will definitely impact and influence the ways I approach digital component in and out of the classroom in a positive way. I have learned so much throughout this course. The digital tools alone that we have gotten to discover and learn about this summer semester, have made a huge impact in my life. I have loved getting to use a different platform of project based learning through the exploration digital tools rather than writing papers. This is something that I have loved, and I know that if I were to bring these tools and knowledge into the classroom, my students will be interested in learning. I believe its important to include technology in our classrooms, because our students are composed to technology at home all the time.
-Daycare (no electronics).
