They were very understanding and loving and I knew I wanted to grow up and be just like them. Growing up, I remember having constant anxiety going to school in mornings. I never felt any connection with any teacher during my learning process. Everything was about getting assignments done or earning good grades. I believe that emotional and social connection/relationship is far as important as academic work. My mother did not finish her elementary education and my father did not achieve a higher education. When they came to the US they put aside their own needs to help my sisters and I to go to school. My parents did not speak English and could not help me in school. However, I had amazing teachers that were my support system. I chose to spend time educating the younger generation to get them ready for the world that they will inherit from us. I believe my teachers in the past has done their part. It is my turn to return that to the next generation. My family of eight have always had financial issues. My father still wanted to send us to private school. She understood that me and my two other siblings attending that school wouldn't always have access to food or supplies we needed. When she could, she would give us school supplies, including a bible, a backpack, and utensils along with other necessities. My school also had a food bank in which she would arrive three hours early to grab to school to grab the best options they had for my family. She was like the mother I didn't have while growing up and also made me feel very welcomed and wanted.
