Using Culture in Class

I've previously given a CPD on using culture as a buffer for low-level learners and I'd like to turn this into an article for publication. My idea was that by using culture as a tool in the classroom, students forget their mistakes and share their memories and knowledge without considering how "correct" they sound.

My target audience would be teachers (of any nationality) who are teaching specifically lower-levels. For example, when I gave this CPD I was teaching Pre-Intermediate and it was something I used at least once per week.

Objective: to give ideas for engaging students who are self-aware of their language levels; to help teachers interact with lower-level students in a more meaningful way; to open discussion on how to make classes fun for students who can't travel to their home countries/travel around their host country.

Looks like: 1. difficulties I've encountered with lower-level students (especially online), 2. why use culture?, 3. a few ideas/examples of what I've used. (e.g.: Molly Malone pictures, Newgrange for Christmas time, 'back-pocket' questions and ideas)

I'd like to do more research for this and expand on what I've already done. Most of my previous information focuses on my own experiences so I'd like to make it a bit more professional or universal for other teachers.

Firos

1. Choosing topic is very crucial. Just brainstorm or do a need analysis for the topic in demand
2. Need analysis will fix the target audience and produce stuff for the them
3. Most of the time, the title makes it whether people wish to read the article or not. Therefore, coining a proper and interesting title is the key to win readers. It should be specific, simple and clear !
4. Writing should not be for merely for writing purpose. It should be done for a an Objective. Always fix the outcome of writing something...What achievement can be brought in by this activity and what benefit the target community is going to get out of the venture are the two key things to ask yourself before embarking into writing.
4. The work should be professional and with international standards. The presentation should lead the reader into more inquisitive learning on the topic discussed.
