<title>Puritans arose within the Church of England in the sixteenth century. The puritans left their home for religious freedom. The name puritans was a term of disrespect that came from their enemies. They first emerged into the new world in the 1560s. Their main goal was to come to England and transform the Church of Rome to the Church of England. They wanted to start over for religious freedom. </title>

Puritans literature relied on first person narrator in these writings. The authors approach the reader with own their personal point of view. The puritans didn&#39;t write for entertainment they only write as a tool to reach people and teach them about the story of god. Some examples of some important literary works are novels, journals, and diaries. All of these literary works were written in the puritans time. <title>The first important Puritan we chose was John Winthrop, he was important because he was the leader. He reminded them of their duties and obligations under the agreement, if they completed them they were blessed, but if they didn&#39;t they were punished. Roger Williams was also a religious leader but he believed that the government should be separated from the church. He also thought people should have more religious freedom. Last, was Anne Hutchinson she spoke out against the Puritan leaders of Massachusetts. She said that they were focusing on the &quot;works&quot; for salvation and not &quot;faith&quot;. </title>
