You can do so by making lifestyle changes such as exercising, limiting sodium and alcohol, and watching your stress. You also may want to take prescribed medications to lower blood pressure.
- Lowering your cholesterol and saturated fat: Eat less foods with cholesterol and saturated fat to have less plaque in your arteries.
- Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables: Eating at least five servings each days of fruits and/or vegetables can reduce your stroke risk.
- Avoid drugs: Some drugs, such as tobacco and cocaine, can increase your chance of stroke.
