Car crashes, unfortunately, are not as uncommon in the US as it is about 6 million accidents every year. However, there are millions of accidents taking place every year, but the thing is that a number of these crashes differ from each other. Injuries by different kinds of vehicles in California highlight the varied nature of these accidents.

The most frequent kind of motor vehicle's crash is a rear-end collision. There has been an increase in the number of accidents through this kind of crash in the recent statistics of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) which shows that about 29% of all car accidents are caused by this type of crash.

Rear-end accidents generally occur when due to an abnormal deceleration, the front car stops or slows down substantially, followed by its rear crash into the back of the front vehicle. There are a few key reasons why these types of collisions occur at such high rates:

Driving while distracted - Drivers who are looking at their cell phone or away from the road or with one hand holding the steering wheel, even for just a few seconds to text or adjust controls or any other activity, will not know that the traffic ahead has slowed and will not hit the brakes in time.

Tailgating - Vehicles that follow very close to the rear end of the car in front have less time to react and brake if that leading vehicle makes any brisk manoeuvres. The importance of watching the distance between cars can't be ignored and you should always do it.

Adverse weather - rain, snow, and other trees make it extremely difficult to brake at the last moment, hence snowy and raining surfaces pose a high risk to motorists during limited visibility.

Drowsy driving - Driving with sleepiness slow down reaction time up to a certain point that the driver is not able to respond to a caution until an accident happened.

Once the rear-end crash is minor then it can be life-threatening as well because the slightest fender-bender can cause serious car damage in a high-speed zone. Avoiding distracted or drunk driving, as well as keeping safe distance from other cars can reduce most of the collision. The main causes are the knowledge of and avoiding them that is the key issues to drive safely.
