My cousin died of drowning at the tender age of eight. It was the first time such tragedy happened in our family so the whole thing was heavy for all of us. The wake was held in our ancestral house. I had just viewed the coffin and came back to my aunt’s convenience store to man it. But suddenly, someone touched my ear out of nowhere, and I literally ran screaming to my aunt in fear.

It didn’t end there. I kid you not when I say that my uncle’s car started moving on its own for about 200 metres. It only stopped when it hit one of the benches in our town’s former wet market. We all thought our drunk uncle was driving it, but it was empty. Apparently, my deceased cousin loved cars.

“Last night a friend rushed me out of the house to catch the opening act at a local bar’s music night. After a few drinks I realized my phone wasn’t in my pocket. I checked the table we were sitting at, the bar, the bathrooms, and after no luck I used my friend’s phone to call mine. After two rings someone answered, gave out a low raspy giggle, and hung up. They didn’t answer again. I eventually gave it up as a lost cause and headed home. I found my phone laying on my nightstand, right where I left it.”

When I was 37, I went to my high school reunion. I flew into the nearest airport and rented a car. The distance was about 35 miles through a very rural and almost abandoned part of the country. About three miles outside of town I see someone on the side of the road, flagging me down. It turned out that it was one of the guys I had attended school with. Jim got in the car and we start talking. I had not seen him in twenty years, but he still looked the same, maybe a little older. We get to town and I ask him if he wants to come to the VFW and have a drink. He says "No, just take me home." Jim's parents had lived only a few blocks from my grandmother’s house, and I turned in that direction but he said to take him to the outskirts of town. There was a mobile home park out there, and I figured that is where he lived. When we reached the end of the turn off he said, "Just drop me here. It was good to see you again" and he walks off into the night.I go to the VFW, met some of my old classmates, we start to talk. As we are talking about who is coming to the reunion, I mention that I had just picked Jim up three miles east of town and had dropped him off. Everyone gets quiet; even the guy singing karaoke stops and lays down the mike. My cousin goes white as a new t-shirt."Barb, Jim died on that curve eight years ago. Rolled his car. We were all at his funeral," I was told. I started to feel really dizzy, and I went out to the car to take some deep breaths. There on the seat is the local newspaper, printed eight years previous, containing Jim's obituary. I still have the paper.

This short ghost story, found on Reddit, is super creepy:“Mommy told me never to go in the basement, but I wanted to see what was making that noise. It kind of sounded like a puppy, and I wanted to see the puppy, so I opened the basement door and tiptoed down a bit. I didn’t see a puppy, and then Mommy yanked me out of the basement and yelled at me. Mommy had never yelled at me before, and it made me sad and I cried. Then Mommy told me never to go into the basement again, and she gave me a cookie. That made me feel better, so I didn’t ask her why the boy in the basement was making noises like a puppy, or why he had no hands or feet.”

At the museum where I used to work, there was a small space in one of the exhibition rooms. It was always pitch dark but had a small table with office chairs for us to chill. My colleagues and I sat around the table one evening, and I was so engrossed with my phone I didn’t realise they’d left.

A few minutes later, I heard an office chair rolling (it was as though someone just got off the chair). I looked up and saw the table starting to levitate a teeny bit. I bolted before thinking. The worst part? I left my phone charger in the room and had to go back to retrieve it (not alone, of course!).

I was sleeping at my aunt’s place and dreamt that an old man was lying on top of me. I kept wanting to erase that thought and dream of something else. But when I woke up in the morning, there was this crushing weight on my chest that was getting heavier by the minute. I started panicking and screaming but nobody heard me. I tried making the sign of the cross (I’m Catholic) but I couldn’t move my arms. I said “go away!” and after a few minutes, the blanket lightened. The craziest part? The same thing happened to my mum!
