Inference:This source tells me that people living during the Japanese occupation ,live in bad conditions.

Evidence:The Japanese occupation occurred during 1942 and they won over the British army.After the Japanese won,they took all the food and food rationing occurred and residents are encouraged to grow their own food.Also,after the war,houses and buildings were in really bad conditions and people got little and bad condition houses to stay in.

Inference:People were poor during the Japanese occupation.They do not have money so black market and food rationing started.

Evidence:The Japanese treated the Singaporeans so badly and cruelly. They beat them,hit them,disrespect them. They hardly help them too. The Japanese soldiers are selfish.They win the war for their own sake,their heartless.

Change/continuity(Explain):Because before the war, people did not suffer as much as when the war came. During the Japanese Occupation,there was food shortage.During the Japanese Occupation,the Japanese government took most of the food for themselves leaving little for the people.As a result,Food rationing got started by the Japanese government.

Source 2 tells me that there is limited supply of food.it shows that the Japanese were giving people limited supply of food and that small container that the Japanese use to give food to people,would not be enough to feed the whole family.

Source 3 tells me that,the japanese won over the british army.after the japanese won,they took all the food and people were encouraged to grow their own food .

Thus,it shows that people suffered as they were not able to attain proper food.



Before the japanese occupation,there was no ill treatment. during the japanese occupation,there was ill treatment.As a result,the teenagers lived in fear.

source 5 tells me that the chinese suffered during sook ching.The chinese had to went for checkup to see their hands.if they were suspected,they would be tortured.When they got stamped at their arm,they had to protect it or not they will get tortured,With that,people live with fear.

Thus it shows that the people had to live fearfully as they would die if not careful.
