INTRO

January 24, 2022
"Sir Jes" - The Introduction

Life is complex - tough yet manageable; tiring yet surmountable. Well, life has its ways of making people be not so happy with something and hitting them with a bang! Which makes people wanna continue and charge further - maybe that feeling of wanting to shove further is derived from MOTIVATION, INTEREST.

Today, I was excited, yet, not totally, and somehow, slightly nervous, since I was going yo be meeting Grade 10 Arrupe - one of the three sections I was assigned to handle - and my day of introducing myself to these students as well. I was majorly nervous though due to the Internet connection, and I was not at all confident because I didn't want to leave a first impression with a choppy, garbled, voice, tagged with a blurry face, all to be possibly caused by, yes, the intermittent internet. Thankfully, the connection, somehow, cooperated, and although I got out from the meet for around 6 minutes or so because my laptop lagged, still, overall, the internet was fine. Now, skipping to the good part. Ma'am Adeva - the best promoter in town - made the best introduction to me and she really has this way of getting people excited to succumb into the identity of a mystery person, so to speak. Fast forward, she told me to introduce myself and I was happy and all-smiles as I was letting my students know who I was, where I come from, etc. After that, the lesson-proper went along and I was keenly observing as to how Ma'am Adeva handles her class and it was just really an environment not only with comfortableness, but a place Maam Adeva has established where it contains a secured haven for students to freely express, be affirmed, and not be terrorized by the teacher. Anyway, the best part of the day was during the conclusion of the session wherein as the students were bidding their goodbyes to Maam Adeva, I wasn't really expecting them to say bye bye to me as well, but I was really caught off-guard when I heard the "bye and thank you, Sir Jes" and THAT IS THE MOTIVATION/INTEREST for me - points where got me to another certain level of heightened excitement to further push and work in this internship journey. Additionally, I also downloaded our recorded session since I was tasked by Maam Dev to do so, and will be uploading the video to the shared drive with Maam Dev, Maam Jayla, and Maam Gab.

It's been purely an amazing day, in terms of internship, and I am extremely ready for Tuesday. This has been your boi, Sir Jester, and see y'all again on the other side! Take care and God bless us all!

FAMILIARITY'S PIVOTALITY

January 25, 2022
My Brilliant Students

Familiarization means comfortableness – a concept which can lead to an established rapport and a domain of enabling one’s self to be in depth towards maximizing his/her adjustments to the other’s character for a better and perpetual interaction, relationship.

Today was pretty much the usual, however, I am getting more and more confidence in terms of the nearing demo teaching I will be having soon, simply because of the fact that I am gradually climbing into the groove of familiarizing the tendencies of high schoolers. Although I won’t be having my demo with Grade 10, Arrupe, sadly, still, the second day observation has helped me more in terms of knowing the realms of this generation’s high school kids. For today, the best is somewhat basically the same from my 1st day observation – the “Sir Jes”. My heart just feels different every single time I hear the “Sir Jes” from my students, even in most subtle of ways. Additionally, in the process of the 1-hour observation, I have, yet again, keenly observed Ma’am Adeva’s management within her classroom and how she consistently sets that comfortable vibe, the safe haven wherein students, based on what I have seen, are not afraid, rather, very much expressive with their thoughts and ideas on the topics presented. Well, if I may add, once more, I cannot help but be also amazed with how brilliant my students are, and how they are actively participative during discussions and personally, as much as I see this as a challenge, it channels further excitement to me as well, since I truly love to have a meaningful and substantial interaction with the students I will be handling soon and looking to establish that tight teacher-students connection with them as well, when it’s all going to be said and done. Overall, I just feel good, confident, and excited as well with how things have been going so far.

That’s it for your boi, Sir Jester! See you soon on my next Journal Entry! God bless and may we remain to be healthy! Peace out!

PRODUCTIVELY NORMAL

January 26, 2022
Mid-week Grind

Dear Journal,

Well today was pretty much a typical day at the office, so to speak. Before anything else though, I just would like to emphasize how well this internship journey has been going so far, for me. Although for our group, there have been tasks already, it’s quite great and comforting, actually, especially knowing that, sadly, majority of my classmates have not been attended to by their respective CTs. It’s comforting in a way that out CT, Ma’am Adeva, has arguably been the most responsive CT amongst all, just amazing.

Anyway, well, the first task I had to take was the 3rd day of Class Observation with my assigned section for this week. Yes, it’s been a handful for this week, and yes, normal for an intern-in-charge. Actually though, I am in the state of happiness, amidst the slight worries of internet connectivity, mainly because I got the earliest chance to really delve into the real internship. Now, the class observation went really fine, and I still cannot get over the feeling of getting overly hyper and overwhelmed every single time that I hear “Sir Jes”! It’s an just an absolute exquisite feeling, and I don’t think it’ll ever get old. After which, I got a little power nap and had my body be recharged. Not long then, I delved into writing this journal. Well, I think that’s it for today, since tomorrow is going tp be a much-anticipated day - the day where I’ll get to manage and facilitate the Temperature Check and Speak-Up activity of my assigned section, so I guess we’ll see how it’ll go.

See you soon and God bless, everyone!

EXQUISITE EXPERIENCE

January 27, 2022
Temperature Check, Speak-Up Activity went lit!

Dear Journal,

THE BEST EXPERIENCE OF MY INTERNSHIP JOURNEY, BY FAR! Well, sorry, my apologies for the All-Caps, hihi, I just can’t help but be hysterical about what happened today. Well, for this day, Maam Adeva, our CT, tasked me to facilitate the class’s Temperature Check and Speak-Up Activity. However, beforehand, I wasn’t completely excited, yes, since, although I am confident with how I could communicate with my students, it was the tendency of the internet connection to be laggy which I was extremely worried about. So, as much as I was in that excitement zone, the worry of the internet connection continuously bothered me.

As usual, the class started with a prayer and Maam Dev opened with some reminders. After which, she played a video for the Excellent Start and then, it was time for me to shine. I greeted the class with a loud “GOOD MORNING” and through that, I think, as observed, I was able to set the mood and arrange that comfortable ambiance inside our virtual classroom. I was very much hyped as I was instructing them on what to do and to not get into dead air, I read my students’ answers one-by-one while waiting for the others’ responses. Then I proceeded to the Speak-Up and pretty much all the way, Maam Dev was my tech master as she arranged and managed the presentation for me. I was going to let 7 luck persons to speak and express their thoughts on the certain quote I told them to chat, however, amongst the 7 people, there were only 4 who were able to answer.

Anyway, my students were extremely participative and they are just extremely brilliant, smart students. Words are just not enough to be able to assert how happy I am today due to the chance I got in managing the classroom, of course, initiated and planned out by Maam Dev - the best CT of all!

Today was a beauty, and I don’t think I’ll be forgetting what I had as an internship experience today anytime soon. It was just fun, substantial, and I got to delve deeper towards the deeper dimensions of the Teacher-Internship experience. See y’all again next time! God bless us all!

THE ENDGAME

January 28, 2022
Parting with sadly happy hearts

Indeed, goodbyes are always the worst, I mean, who loves bye byes, right? I can only think of countable things which go beyond the goodbyes’ standard of being The Worst!

Hey there, Journal! It’s me again, Sir Jes! Wow, that sounds oddly amazing, and saddening. It makes me sad in a way since the section I’ve been assigned to handle this has been calling me that all throughout this quarter and in a blink, I just bade my goodbye to them. Although I am still hopeful to have another moment with them, I still can’t stop the sadness it leaves my heart, realizing that today is the last day I’m going to see the FIRST SECTION THAT I LEGITLY HANDLED, ever!

However, it’s not totally sad today, in fact, it’s more of being on the happy side. Yes, this is goodbye, but a beautiful moment to forever cherish. I wasn’t really expecting it, but one of my students, after an inquiry towards Maam Dev, said, “Maam, can we take a photo with Sir Jes” and BOI DID THAT MELT MY HEART OR WHAT!? Honestly, I did not dream to be a teacher, but being in these types of moments? Makes me fall deeper with teaching, genuinely. I was just so moved, touched, by that simple request, I mean, I was already crazily overwhelmed with their simple, ‘Sir Jes’ and imagine what that request did to my heart. Yeah, softies, right? Anyway, I was saying in my mind then, “this couldn’t be way better than it is now” but guess what! IT WENT WAY BETTER! As they were leaving and finishing their assessment, they left their thank you messages and were very generous to state how happy they were to meet me, though virtually. Their messages were just depleted my manliness and turned me almost into a crybaby, it just softened my heart and it was crazy! Words cannot justify with how today with went for me, but to put it simply, this week has been ONE HECK OF A RIDE!

In conclusion, this week just essentially made me fall deeper with teaching, just wow! Catch y’all soon next week, I guess. God bless and let’s all continue to be amazing and smart! ❤
