Here’s the summary of my interview with him:

Johan has worked for a long time since he graduated in 1995, he has changed hospitals to work as a doctor and he has been with the current hospital he’s working in right now for 13 years. In his opinion, working as a doctor isn’t easy especially when it comes to diagnosing patients when they have symptoms that might have several potential diseases. Since the existence of AI, he no longer needs to worry about diagnosing, doing paperwork, and personalizing the best treatment for them since AI’s got everything done for him. He mentioned that it could even replace the role of nurses so that doctors can just work with AI themselves only if AI is 100% accurate and almost impossibly miss something. As AI is developing, there are still some gaps that AI can’t fulfill so they might generate errors that might lead to a fault. He mentioned that even though for the most part AI helps, it can’t be denied that AI can’t work without humans since they make errors sometimes, and in the end, there should be someone that takes responsibility for whatever the result is which is why he should check test results, paperwork, etc after they are being generated by them. Medicines are also considered one of the most crucial things to improve so that patients can get treated better. AI helps to create combinations of several doses of chemicals to create the perfect medicine for certain illnesses, then human doctors try to create an experiment based on what the AI said to make sure that works well for the human body and cures the sickness.

In Indonesia itself, the infrastructure built is not even so that different areas have different quality of facilities. In some developed cities, they have started to use AI to support doctors working, but in less-developed cities, they are just relying on the manpower they have. Even though doctors still can work without AI, he suggests that all hospitals/clinics should eventually use AI to help them work because it creates a huge potential for doctors to work better.
