I am not a maker... yet but I am excited to become one when I have my own classroom. I am a social science and french teacher - does anyone have any experience with these areas? Are there any suggestions for makerspaces I can do?
I would really love to make my classroom a fun and enjoyable place and I think the makerspaces are a perfect way to do this!

I am not a maker, but I hope that I become one once I have a classroom of my own. As a new teacher grad, I look forward to the day I can introduce creativity in my science classroom. Last year, I was part of the STEM seminar project for grade 7/8s where they explore different facets of potential and kinetic energy. They created roller coasters from different recycled materials from home. I hope to incorporate more creative strategies like this where environmental sustainability is also taken into consideration. I believe that anyone and everyone can be a MAKER!

I would classify myself as a maker, though I am generally a low-/no-tech maker! I've always been some on who fiddles around and love working with my hands. My current job is focused on combining EFL with environmental education so I have been pulling a lot of ideas from STEAM lesson plans/activities. As the weather gets warmer I hope to do various low-tech making/creating activities. Personally some of the most memorable things I did in my own elementary-secondary education involved making (both low tech and tech heavy) such as making rube goldberg machines, designing parts digitally and 3D printing them, welding art pieces, etc. My partner is more of a digital maker he has been 3D animating/designing and 3D printing since middle school, we even have a 3D printer in our house! 2 years ago I wanted to make maple leaf shaped cookies to gift to students here in Korea for a Canada Day activity but of course it is not easy to find maple leaf shaped cookie cutters here. My partner designed and 3D printed a cookie cutter for me! :)
