The main character, Piper was a small bird hoping for his mother to feed him, but she did not, so he had to look for his own clams to eat. Piper saw a wave and his instincts told him to run away from it because other birds did, later he saw hermit crabs burrow into sand after the wave was to ingulf them. Piper than burrowed into sand after a huge wave was about to ingulf him, and than he saw clams floating in water. So he was able to show the other birds that clams are under the wet sand.

-The atmosphere of the setting is pressured to fit in. It is also kind of 
scary at least for the birds. ( scared of the waves. ) But it is mostly calm and peaceful.

With that said, I believe the theme is to "Overcome your fears". The video takes place in a beach with her Sandpiper friends. Her fellow sandpipers also played a part in changing the mood of the setting. Whenever a wave come, everyone on the beach take off. Not knowing what the waves are like and due to her elder's reactions, she feels scared and runs away along with them. A motif that comes up as you progress through the vide is "perserverence". This motif is one that stands out to me. When Piper exits her nest for the first time, to obtain food near the shore she realizes that the food is buried undernath the sand. As she tries to grab some food many waves come swiping the food away. Piper keeps on persersevering, eventually she overcomes her fears of the waves. And once she accomplishes that getting food becomes a much easier task. Piper has many character traits such as, observant, curious, and brave. Near 1:43, you can tell how curious Piper was to what they were doing. At 1:57 in the film, Piper observed the crabs, who were more experienced, and how they dealt with the water. Piper gets caught in the water again, so they copy the crabs and dig into the sand. I think this shows that Piper is  quite impulsive (like their last minute decisions and lack of planning), but also observant, curious, and adaptive (seen by their watching, learning and mimicking the crabs) . The mood is pretty light hearted, nobody really gets hurt (well, the mussels) and it has a happy ending. The setting helps, as a sunny beach with gentle(ish) waters and soft sand. Piper is a little bird who lives near the crisp blue ocean. In the beginning shot you can see the sun rays reflecting on the water. You then see a little bird who is hidden in the sand, waiting to be fed. That bird goes by the name Piper. Piper waits, and the tiny bird doesn't feel any food in their mouth. Piper then starts looking for food, but then she gets hit by a big blue wave. Piper is discouraged that she didn't get any food. Still starving, she looks below her and sees a hermit crab. She mimics the hermit crab's movement, as she has never seen anything like this before. Piper then spots another wave, even bigger than before! What will she do? She quickly jerks her head at the hermit crab and hides in the sand like the hermit crab did and get hits by the wave once again. Piper opens her eyes to see if the wave had passed, but then she sees what the rest of the sea creatures sees: The inside of the ocean. She sees coral, and sand, tiny rocks tickling her feet. Piper looks mezmorized. She'd never see anything like this before! She gets up and is ecstatic! She is no longer afraid of what she thought was the big and scary sea. She perseveres, going into the waves once again, and looking for food. She eventually meets her goal and she finds food! Her stomach growling is put to rest as she enjoys the food with the rest of her family. I believe that the film "Piper" is a film that sticks with the theme, "Never Give Up". Piper is a very persistent  little bird. In the beginning Piper is not able to get any food, she just gets hit with rough waves and has to start all over again. But as the story continues Piper manages to build up her confidence and is able to stand her ground and get some food. She ends up getting hit again but fights the wave by just standing there. This helps her learn to not be afraid of the waves. At this point in the story I noticed a change in Pipers character, she is now brave and proud that she was able to get food.
