Causes + Spark of WW1

The most importanat causes of the WW1 were MAIN. Which stands for Militarism, Alliances, Imperialiasm, and Nationalism. Militarism was one the the causes because there was an increase in military influence on policy making. Alliance was also a cause in WW1 because diffrent countries had eachothers back. Whenever one of there friends got into war, they would step in ad also contribute with the war. For example, British with Germany. Imperialism was the third most important one. This was a cause of the WW1 because there was so many countries trying to over power pther countries. They wanted to show that they were the powerful ones. And lastly came Nationalism. Nationalism was like patriotism on steriods. The people believed way to much on their own country. They thought that their country had to be the dominant one from the others.
Those four were the ones who almost coused the war. But there was an actual spark that let out WW1. And that was when Gavrilp Princip assasinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand on June 28 of 1914.

After the death of Archduke Franz Ferdinand , Germany declared war on Serbia. Then Russia and France in the early August. After this happened, Great Britain went to war with Germany on August 4. This was because they had an Alliance with France and Russia. This is where we see what the two sides of the war were. There was Triple Alliance. Who had Germany, Austria-Hungary, Italy, and later on they had Ottoman Empire. On the other side there was aTriple Entente. This group had France, Britain, Russia, and later on they got Japan and someone else.

So many people died. Sadly there isn't enough to count with just two hands. It's astonishing by looking at just the numbers. By the end of the war there was at least ten million soldiers that died. Many soldiers risked their lives by protecting their country. And sadly at least 20 million civilians died. That's 20 million innocent people dead. These are people that just tried to live their normal life, but ended up suffering. Most of the civilians that died lived in Russia

U.S with Alliance

The U.S. was not involved in this war until 1917. Three years after WW1 had started. The president at this time was President Wilson. His choice was to keep the Unisted States neutral. He didn't want to choose sides. But he was willing to help both sides on whatever they needed. The British and French needed help at the time with machinery. The U.S took this as an advantage and let them have what they wanted. By helping them the United States had gained $24 billion. Not only that but the banks in the United States lent $3 billion to the rest of the Allies.

Navel Blockade + Lusitania + Unrestricted Sub Warfare

As much as the U.S. wanted to help both sides of the war he couldn't. Yes they were allowed to trade with Germany, but there was just one problem. Great Britain's Navel Blockade didn't let let Germany trade across the country. This is why the U.S. was mostly able to trade with the Allies. The first passenger ship that sank was the Lusitania ship on May 7th 1915. After this ship sinks so many people wanted War .but that was the opposite of what President Wilson wanted. Wilson did not want to cause another disturbing War. Because of this so many people called him "weak" and "too soft". This wasn't the only ship that stink after this one another ship sank and after that second ship that sank there was finally the third one. The third one was the Sussex. And this one sank also. Because there were so many ships sinking the unrestricted submarine warfare was created. Basically the rules for the unrestricted submarine warfare was the Britain would shoot or attack down any ship that passed by their Naval blockade.

There were so many problems around but then there came the Zimmerman Note. The German send a telegram to Mexico so they could declare war together with the British. And an exchange Mexico would get all the places that they had lost after losing the war with the US. Sadly this snow was interrupted by the British. And they printed it out on the newspaper. Because of this Zimmerman Note on April 6th that US declared war to Germany . It wasn't just a Zimmerman Note that caused the US to get involved in the war. But there was also number one, unrestricted submarine warfare, number two the Zimmerman Note, number three on March 1917 there was more acceptance for the Russian democracy, number four the US said that they could end the war quickly and could ensure peace, and lastly number five, the moral reason: the German Mass-killing of civilians.

Political Cartoon

This is basically political cartoon of what happened in World War 1. In the cartoon there are several General like people that are saying stuff to the person in front of them. Like threatening them if they do something they'll do something else to them, but behind them there's somebody else saying well if you hurt a friend of mine you'll get hurt too. And it keeps on going on and on and on. This shows that they had other people to protect them and that's where cause number two of the World War 1, Alliances, kicks in. Each general or president had alliances with somebody else and they knew they could dress on somebody if something ever happened to them they'll get protected by somebody else also.

This video basically shows how two soldiers on both sides suffered while being in war. And this video you could see how the soldiers had to dig their own trenches. Those trenches worked from moments but sooner or later each one of them had to go out and fight while running and they knew that they were going to die sooner or later. Living in those trenches was a nightmare. People had been dying and thrown into trenches rats were running around while they tried to fight the war and fevers and colds were happening right there. There is barely any time to eat because they were on War for hours.
