If they had embraced the start up mentality and recognized digital disruption's serious threat(s), then they could've had their innovative, entrepreneurial employees (who now create and run start ups in the Waterloo region) 'open up' start ups within RIM whose sole purpose would have been to take down the company. In doing this, they would have learned what needed to be done to keep Blackberry top of the pile.
