This means that overall the film was the most popular G-rated film in 1990 and grossed at a high amount; $44,645,619. The 1978, 1984 animation and 2016 live-remake have the same plot/narrative, characters, songs as the original release.

All releases, with the exception of the 2016 re-make which is aimed at teenagers and adults, have a targeted audience of families; The animations, sing along songs and the theme of friendship would entertain children while the action and humor would keep the adults intrigued.

Beukenoord in 1994 in the form of VHS in the Netherlands. As a result of the vast improvement in technology the circulation continued many years after the initial release of the movie. This is very different to a 2016 release which would be consumed quickly and most probably span no longer than 12 months. In comparison the 2016/17 revenue is generally slowly becoming less dependent on hard copy sales and more so on cinema (overpriced confectionary and the "experience" that comes with the movie) and streaming in the form of provider box sales and netflix for example.

Comparing this to the 2016 release, in the opening weekend, ranked 1st! A likely reason that the elephants and vultures were excluded is because the 2016 version is less musical in nature than its 1967 predecessor. For instance, 2016’s The Jungle Book does not feature the likes of ‘That’s What Friends Are For’, ‘Colonel Hathi’s March’ or ‘My Own Home’, and only in the end credits does Scarlett Johansson sing ‘Trust in Me’. However, this is not a problem at all and even when ‘The Bare Necessities’ and ‘I Wan’na Be like You’ (with new lyrics) pop up in the film, they still feel totally organic and well-placed.
