Atticus once again shows us that there is more than meets the eye. Who would've known that he was the town's best shooter. The fact that he never said anything just proves that he is humble and is again teaching his children what right and wrong is. This is also a great example of justice since Atticus realizes that even though he has the power and the talent to decide whether something will live or die, he chooses to abandon that and instead take a more humble path.

Even tho she knew about all the myths of people dying and even tho she knew that the dog was coming she still went out there to let them know.

Where were they standing when they shot the dog?

I am getting this strange feeling about the situation with the dog. Everyone seems threatened by the 'crazy dog' when in reality the dog is just looking for a place to die.
Chapter 10

I´m intrigued to know how the book got the name “How to Kill a Mockingbird”,
especially after Atticus tells Scout “I´d rather you shot tin cans in the back
yard, but I know you´ll go after birds. Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you
can hit ´em, but remember it´s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” (pg. 90)

Why would she be ashamed that her father can play the Jew´s Harp? (91)

Why can Atticus shoot so well? (97)

Racial Prejudice is shown when Mrs. Dubose says “Yes indeed, what has this world come
to when a Finch goes against his raising? I´ll tell you!”.....”Your father´s no
better than the niggers and trash he works for!” (pg. 102)

Courage was shown when Jem went to cut off all of the camellia bushes that Mrs. Dubose had,
even though he knew she had a gun and that he would get reprimanded by his
father, Atticus. (103)

Justice is shown when Jem has to go to Mrs. Dubose´s house and read to her every afternoon
after school and on Saturday, because of what he did to her bushes.

I never would have thought that Mrs. Dubose was a morphine addict.

Atticus explains what courage is to Jem and Scout on page 112:
“....I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that
courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It´s when you know you´re licked
before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what.
You rarely win, but sometimes you do....”
