Within the theme of Happy and Inclusive School and as part of the Mosaic project, students from Italy, Poland, and Turkey brought the boxes they had prepared in their own countries. Each group opened their box and introduced the items inside, explaining how these objects represent happiness and inclusiveness in their school environment. Through these presentations, students had the opportunity to learn about each other’s school cultures and explore the universal aspects of happiness and inclusion.

After the presentations, all students worked together to decorate the school board. Inspired by the items in the boxes, they created colorful drawings, messages, and designs, resulting in a meaningful and vibrant display. The final board visually reflected the spirit of the Mosaic project—intercultural cooperation, solidarity, and the celebration of diversity.

This activity strengthened students’ collaboration skills, creativity, and intercultural understanding, contributing to a happier and more inclusive school atmosphere.

Workshop: Digital Bridge – Connecting Students’ Needs

Workshop: Digital Bridge – Connecting Students’ Needs

In this activity, students focused on creating digital solutions to support people with disabilities in their daily lives. The workshop began with a needs analysis; students examined real-life situations, identified the main problems faced by the target group, and clearly defined the area where a solution was needed. This step ensured that the prototype would respond to a real and specific challenge.

During the practical phase, students designed a light-and-fan warning system to help hearing-impaired individuals notice surrounding sounds. Using twin kits, a microphone sensor, LED light module, and a small fan, they created a mechanism that reacted immediately when a sound reached a certain level. When the microphone detected the set threshold, the LED turned on and the fan activated, giving a double alert. Students completed the wiring, adjusted the threshold values through coding, and tested their prototype with different sound levels to check its reliability.

By the end of the workshop, students gained clear experience in collaboration, inclusion, and empathy—key elements of the MOSAIC project. They learned how to design solutions that reduce barriers and understood why inclusive thinking matters in real life. Many students shared feedback about the importance of working together and considering different needs when creating a product. The activity strengthened teamwork and showed how meaningful it is to develop solutions that make everyday life easier for others, bringing MOSAIC’s inclusive spirit into the classroom.

Icebreaking activities were designed to help participantscommunicate more comfortably with each other and quicklybuild intimacy within the group. Various games and groupactivities were implemented, particularly in international andmulticultural groups, to create an environment of trust beyondlanguage barriers. These activities strengthened solidarity, empathy, and mutual understanding between both students andteachers.

These activities align with the project's goal of creating an inclusive school environment. Each activity minimizedlanguage barriers (art, mime, physical movement) and enabledparticipants to engage immediately. While the main focus of the “My Portrait” activity was art and silent communication, it also highlighted the inclusive role of art and music in creativethinking and awareness development. The “Team Statues” activity encouraged skills such as collaboration experience, recognizing the role of inclusivity (body language), andcreative thinking by bringing abstract concepts to life throughphysical drama. Finally, the “MOSAIC Line up” activityprovided participants with opportunities for dynamic harmonyand nonverbal communication, raising awareness aboutcollaboration with different talents, belonging, and socialintegration.

Differentiated Instruction Design Presentation

The main objective of the “M.O.S.A.I.C.: Mobilizing OurStrengths, Supporting All in Community” project, carried outunder Erasmus+ KA2, is to create an inclusive and happyschool environment. In line with this objective, a presentationon “Differentiated Instruction” was held to instruction moreeffective in mixed classes with students of different learningspeeds, interests, and readiness levels. Information wasprovided about an academic study conducted at Ahmet Şerife Sanlı Middle School on Differentiated Instruction Design.

This presentation emphasized that differentiated instruction is a student-centered and flexible teaching design, rather than a “one-size-fits-all” teaching approach. Information wasprovided about the basic processes involved in differentiatinginstruction. It was explained that in the planning stage, studiesare conducted on student readiness, learning styles, and areasof interest, and that during the teaching process, theseelements are taken into account to create classroom stationsand groups. It is stated that learning outcomes are alsodiversified according to student profiles in the differentiatedinstruction process, and formative assessment tools are used toprovide instant feedback and monitor the process during theassessment phase. The data obtained from the academic studyand field applications show that differentiated teachingpractices increase students' academic achievement, reducelearning anxiety and increase learning motivation, and lead topositive developments in students' attitudes towards learning.
