One argument the author is making is that Katz is not fit for this journey. He is making this argument by explaining that Katz is much more out of shape and slower than he is. Katz is also prone to seizures and is quite unaware of the wilderness. He explains how Katz is not fit by using logos or logic. The biggest disappointment in the novel so far is the fact that there has not been any crazy wildlife encounters yet.
