Question 1 : We think that Salva would share because that was a nice person and he wouldn't keep it to himself  Because he's not selfish like lots of other people   in the group.

Because Uncle died and he was acting like the leader of the group. He will show them that he is not weak and small and that he will not slow them down while walking.

Answer 1: I feel like Salva would have shared his water, he seems like the type that would be willing to save somebody by giving them a simple drop of water and if he did not have any more water left he probably would have asked somebody else to try and save them.

Answer 2: I think that uncle wants to go back and fight in the war for his rights and to save other dinka and try to make peace. Fighting in the war is a scary job and it’s also scary for the victims and the family members of the fighters, and whomever goes to the war for their country or tribe must be brave like uncle.

Answer 3: Their attitude changed towards Salva because uncle died and he was basically the leader of the group that had a gun to protect the group and food that he had shared with Salva, but now that he is dead Salva has no friends and/or family members within the group, and if the group mistreats them nobody will stand up for him like uncle had. By showing the group that Salva is not just a child he can prove to them that he can and will be a leader in the future.

Answer 4: When he thinks he sees his mother but really it is not, he realizes that uncle was probably right about the attack in Lune-arrick and that his family likely had not survived.

Maybe he will go out and kill a animal for the group to have a meal. Or find a water souce with clean water.

That his uncle told him that the village was bombed and that only few people survived. 

The memory that kept him going is that his parents want him to succeed and be strong.

I think he would share it cause i feel like salva is trying to be a nice guy. And trying to help others.so yes i think he would say yes. 

Answer: He realizes that when uncle told him that his family was in the villages when the bombing was happening and that his family was gone and no one new where they were. He new that if they would truly gone that he would live for his family and he new that his family would want him to continue with his life and make it better than it was before.

I think Salva would share his water with the men on the ground because he would feel bad and want them to do that for him if he were about to die of dehydration.

Because he wants Salva to be safe so he wants to fight for his country so that they can have peace and so that it is a safe country for him to live in.

Answer:The group's attitude changed because Salva’s Uncle passed away and they think that Salva is going to cry and stop walking.They think that Salva will just slow them down lots,they also think he is going to beg for food but they will just ignore him.I think that Salva will be walking in the front and get motivated to not stop walking or not beg for food.

The group's attitude is different because now Salva has to beg for food and the lot of the people are ignoring Salva, they think he is going to cry because of his uncle's death all the time and slow theme down. I think that Salva will find a food source of some kind and will share it with everyone!

Answer: So that when the war ends they have people and a place to go back so they are not left with nothing. Also he wants to save people so when it is over salva has someone to go back too so he is not alone. And he knows that salva will be ok and will meet people that he can rely on and trust.

I think that he will say that i will be a very good helper to the men.and will say i am very brave. 

The event that makes Salva realize his family is gone is the lady in the bright orange headscarf that is tall like his mom but is not, and that he keeps searching for his family for days and he finally gives up because they’re nowhere to be found. The memory that helps Salva survive is his Uncle and Mariel and knowing they would want him to keep going and live.

Salva is loving and caring and he knows that they would die. If he would share if uncle let him.

I think Uncle Wants to leave Salva there Because he knows he will be well fed and safe from war, Uncle wants to keep fighting and keep protecting  his rights and beliefs. 

The group’s attitude changes because the group of men robbers killed Uncle, who was one of the leaders and the people respected him and Salva because he was his nephew. I think Salva will keep up with the group and not complain to show them he won’t be any trouble.

I think Uncle wants to go back because he doesn’t want anyone else to suffer as much as other people and he doesn’t want to bring Salva back because he could die and Uncle saw all the suffering Salva went through.

The uncle wants to leave Salva alone because if he brings him too war, he might get hurt or injured so it is best for him to stay so he will not get hurt.

I think that Salva would share his water because I think that he is a nice person. He was willing to give it at this age but his uncle stopped him from doing so. If he were older he would share his water with the nine men.

Salva would donate his water to people in need of water, like little kids. This is because Salva is very kind at heart, and loving. 

Salva has a little hope that his family is still alive even though he doesn't have any contact with them. He sees a woman wearing an orange scarf which looks similar to the ones that woman would wear from his tribe. He instantly thinks that it's Salva's mother as she is wearing it the same way that his mother would, around her head. He later figures out that it is not her as he yells out to her. This disappoints him and he starts to loose hope of his family being out there and realized that they are dead.

The groups attitude towards Salva changed because Uncle left. They changed because Uncle was very important to the group because he had a gun and protected everyone. He also protected Salva a lot so he wouldn't get kicked out. I think Salva can do something when they were being led back into Sudan to resist so the group can change their mind

Uncle probably wants to go out into war because he wants Salva along with others to be safe. Salva keeps him going.

I think that if Salva was older and stronger, he would not share with others. If he shares with others, that would leave himself at risk of dying. Even the others are dehydrating, Salva would be strong enough to save himself instead. 

First of all, this book is great. My class and I are half way done in reading the book. So to answer that question,
Yes, I think he would share his gourd of water. This is what I think because I learned that he is a kind, smart person. When he is older, he would share it to someone who is suffering more than him because he understands what they feel.
SPOILER ALERT:
Salva's Uncle, family and his friend died which made him stronger but if he is older, he would be even stronger so I would say that he would share his gourd of water for the other people.

 Salva realized that his family is gone when he remember that his uncle told him Loun-Arrik is destroyed and burned. When his uncle, and his friend, Marial was gone, he thought he was alone again. He wanted to give up, he was so tired. However, he thought that his uncle and Marial will want Salva to finish this long walk and arrive at the refugee camp safely. He was alone, but got stronger and decided to try his best to survive in the camp.

2. He left Salva on his own because he wanted Salva to make new friends at camp.

3. They found out Salva lost his uncle; Salva will probably try to show his friends where the water is since he’s on his own and his Uncle is fighting for Sudan.

4. The shooting with Salva’s uncle; Salva remembers his uncle sharing things with him unlike how his group would.

I think that uncle really helped him out and taught him how to survive in hard conditions like living in the desert. So, I think now that since no one's there to teach or help Salva, no one takes him seriously. I think Salva is going to do something that tries to help them.

In addition, even after Uncle tells Salva the news that it is unlikely that his family is alive, Salva still tries to cling to the ones that he has left; Uncle. We can see this when Salva is continuously trying to persuade Uncle to stay with them once they reach Ethiopia instead of going back to fight in the war that has caused problems for Southern Sudan. He provides reasons on how he won’t have anyone and no family, either, to which Uncle responds gently and kindly with facts that he will be able to make friends and meet people,  getting his point across whilst reassuring Salva that everything will be alright. With this, Salva will try to protect as many people and families as he possibly can from being torn apart and tortured, trying to do something that his family would have been proud of, and possibly done themselves. 

Finally, we also know that Salva has almost given water to the hurt that was lying on the rock-hard desert ground at the end of chapter nine. Looking at their dry, cracked lips and pale white eyes, I believe that Salva was about to provide them with water, even though his own throat was dry; although he relinquished that thought once a voice shouted out to leave them alone.

Overall, I think that Salva is kindhearted and always willing to look out for others when it is necessary and would most likely share the little amount of water that he has left; he will do the best that he can with his young age and mind.

Overall, I believe that since Uncle Jewiir’s death, Salva has toughened up, fought through difficult situations, such as the ones he is currently dealing with, and will not stop fighting for himself and others by proving what he can do through hunting and finding important supplies, and possibly even trying to fill in Uncle’s spot by doing the best that he can to provide the group with optimism. 

The groups attitude changes because Salva's uncle is no longer the leader so they can say they're opinion without his uncle standing up for him.

I think Uncle wants to go back to the war because it could really protect him. I also think by doing this, I think it also can make Salva more brave. But leaving an eleven year old in a new country is probably not the best idea. Without family.

I think Uncle would want to leave to fight in the war and not bring Salva because it is best for Salva to grow up and live his life and not die young from war. Uncle already lived most of his life.

The group’s attitude towards Salva changed because Uncle was the one who started giving him attention, so the group started treating him well. Salva will try to do some heroic or not bother them to try to make them change their minds.

The fact that Uncle died and most of the people from his village were killed, so he knows that he is probably the only one left. He also can’t find anyone in his family within the camp. The memory of Uncle helping him take one step at a time through the desert is helping him make it through. Salva is thinking, “All I need to do is get through the day” everyday in the refugee camp.
