William Shakespeare is working  on a new commedy Romeo and Ethel but he has no ideas because he hasn't anything who inspired him. At the same time there is a girl Viola de Lesseps who loves act and decides to go to audition for Shakespeare but she has to dress like a man called Thomas Kent. She's very wonder so Shakespeare try to found her. They met in a party and William discovers that Thomas Kent is a woman and they fall in love. Shakespeare writes quickly and he trasforming his play in Romeo and Juliet. At the same time Viola has To go to the court for receive the approval for her proposed marriage by Lord Wassex by Queen. But Shakespeare would do anything for her and decided to accompany her to court as Merlow (the most important poet in London). After Marlow gets killed and Viola thinks that Shakespeare is dead. Clarified the misunderstanding Viola married Wassex but she's banished from the theatre because she's a woman, but Shakespeare decided to play the role of Juliet to Viola. From here the Queen who attend during the play asked to Shakespeare to write for her but at the end Viola is still married with Wessex,but she will remain Shakespeare's inspiration forever.
Characters : there are different characters. The most important are: William Shakespeare,Viola de Lesseps,Lord Wessex, the queen Elizabeth, Christopher Marlow,Richard Burbage who helps Shakespeare for his rapresentation, and Philip Hanslow. My favourite character is Viola because she's rebel towards the society because although women were not allowed to act she decided to follow her dream. So I love her tenacity. But at The same time she's the typical girl who submits to the will of the family because she was forced to marry Wessex.
Scene: My favourite scene is the last because I think that the actors menaged to create a mistral scene. When Viola, already married with Wessex, she's instructed by the queen to give Shakespeare money and right here the two express their love and I love when Shakespeare says to her that with his poetry he will make  live her forever.
Themes:in this film we can found different themes. In the Elizabethian age the women can't decide for their life infact Viola was constricted by her family to marry Wassex although she loved William. Also The woman in this period can't act because this type of job was only for man.
