         <description><![CDATA[<div>Fredrick Douglass was adopted by a family. He was African American. He learned to read a little. Slavery became a big thing, and he was turned into one. His master and mistress didn't want him to learn to read so they stopped him. He did learn still. He escaped slavery. He was a very intelligent man. After he escaped slavery, he became a leader to abolish slavery. He wrote antislavery writings. His born in Cordova, MD. Abraham Lincoln valued him and his thoughts. He was married. He also had five children. He died February 20, 1895.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>She was born in Dorchester County, MD. She was born in the year of 1820. She was African American. She was enslaved. Her original name was Araminta Ross. She escaped slavery. She came started to come back and save other slaves. She used a passage way to freedom called the underground railroad. She made stops along this passage to houses that people will feed and protect the runaways. Harriet would make trips down to the south twice a year to save slaves. She saved her own family before anyone. People called her Moses. She suffered from narcolepsy. She was hit in the head as a child that made her suffer with sleep. She died March 10, 1913.</div>]]></description>
