...what do I enjoy, when not working? since sports is a often met expectation, I can reply, that managing life can be considered sports in some way, if you take movement to everyday life: instead of jogging: carry that beer box home from the grocery store; instead of the stepper: carry cement bags (you can choose 25, 30 or 40 kg) up to our slopy garden. instead of taking the car: ride the bike (u can cheat with an e-bike :))
My past years have been dominated by renovating our home - but there is an end day for that - i call it my personal freedom day: from then non, I will again enjoy reading, going to art museums, galleries, hiking, travelling (not only vacation) and exploring unknown areas - not only location wise, but also in terms of adding topics and views related to my own self and especially society, arts, politics and economics... Plus: i love music, constantly extending my record collection and yes, listen to them. and everyone, who listens to records knows: listening to records is sports, too (singles are like a marathon...)!

• I have a certification as an assistant skiing instructor for school courses; never made use of it, though – my suspicion is that I would not make a good enough entertainer to take part in a school skiing course 😉

• Not religious, but an active member of my local church choir

• Passionately hate the sound of voice-altering technology like vocoder, autotune, harmonizer – that translates to me abhorring almost everything on mainstream radio stations

• I hate it when (mostly electronic/digital) things don’t work properly, although I can cope with a surprising bit of brokenness in my surrounding (e.g. broken light bulbs at home)

Hello, I'm Dragan. I'm originally from Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and came to Austria in the summer of 2020. I'm not passionate about many things but I have been known to waste a lot of time on movies, football, football manager games series, coffee drinking, and books.
You know what they say: "Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time". The latest book recommendation - A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. I've also been known to avoid sunlight (the programmers tan, I guess), anything involving mountains and buildings above 5 floors.
Since I've got a family of my own, I picked up a bit of cooking. Nothing fancy, but my kids love it.
I studied CS in Zagreb, Croatia, and from my early workdays, the focus on the most interesting thing in IT is always changing for me. I was/am interested in the backend, IT architecture & infrastructure, system administration, 3d graphics, databases, and even cyber-security.
But, not frontend and Javascript. Like, never.

Hi, I am Benni (but in English I typically prefer Ben) and I was born and raised in Vienna. When I was in 11th grade, my family and I moved to Lexington, MA. It took me more than 10 years to move back to Vienna: I lived in Florence, Italy, Frankfurt a. M., and Stockholm in between. I am not good at picking up languages, so I speak neither Italian nor (passable) Swedish.

I really enjoyed living abroad but after my daughters Maya and Olivia were born in Stockholm, my wife and I we felt that it is time to move back and we are very happy that we did.

Battery in a "Box" #DIY

During the first lock down in 2020, I started to build a "Battery in a Box" with raw 3.2V cells. The system is an addition to an existing PV (grid-tie) system already in place. Usable storage capacity is around 20 kWH with 5 kW per phase (3-phase) constant output power.

The system cut the energy costs on average by 70%.

I think I'm a bit of an hyperactive. I like doing things, all the time (sometimes too much and I exhaust myself 😅). I love getting better at things, understand them and improve by trying things out.
I like mental challenges but after a few hours my brain gets burning and I need to go outside and burn some physical energy. I go running, biking, climbing or I stretch. I'm really into sports. It helps me to understand my body, get out of the daily routine and get lost in my thoughts.
It's important for me to feel free: my creativity and energy are at their top when there are no rules or schedules and everything is possible.

I grew up on the opposite side of Austria in Tyrol and have lived in different places in the US and Europe over the years. When I was younger, I started and left many different hobbies, but as I got older, I became less interested in doing everything a little and more focused on really enjoying a handful of things I genuinely love. These, I would say, are music, travel, hiking, spending time with people, food & wine (I love cooking international cuisine), writing & the English language. My boyfriend is from Ireland, which has become a bit of a second home for me. I had many hobbies as a child from piano till tennis ( wasn’t bad got 3 medals :D). Nowadays, I deeply enjoy drawing, sewing, and making out of something bad something worse.
Music has followed me since young age, growing up with my uncles, made me love the 80s and 90s rock music.
Interesting topics that i can always talk about are Psychology, Philosophy, Economics and Travels. I am a huge travel fan and try to fly as much as i can but awful in geography.

Passo Giau, in the center of the Dolomites. Winter or summer it's just great throughout and the scenery is amazing. I even held my wedding reception in that small hotel right there.

A couple of things I like:

Sports: especially football and F1. As I am Dutch there is no way around Max Verstappen for some reason he is a national hero so as a Dutch person I have been hypnotized to adore him as well.

Travelling: or rather actually being at cool places than traveling. I mean getting to cool places is usually a hassle.

TV: I know it sounds boring but I really like tv. (I have a 65 inch tv at home...)

Whiskey: if you are ever in a position wanting to buy me a gift I will always be happy with whiskey – scotch is preferred (hopefully I don’t sound to much like an alcoholic, if I do whatever I really like whiskey...)
