A challenge of implementing this lesson plan to middle school students might be student initial discomfort in talking about feelings, and the importance of understanding someone else's point of view.

The Mindsets and Behaviors matched the lesson because they directly relate to supporting students acceptance and expression of their emotions.

• Additionally, I would have included B-SS-1 "effective oral and written communication skills and listening skills." It is important to students learn to listen for understanding and to communicate their emotions both through speaking and writing.

The pre/post assessment align with the Mindset and/or Behavior because they directly reflect the information being delivered and the desired outcomes of students being able to identify and communicate their emotions and feelings.

Timing: I think the number of lessons is good. However, having the lessons directly after lunch may have negatively effected the results. I also wonder if conducting the lessons in Oct-December may have also negatively effected the results as many people struggle with seasonal depression or apathy. Perhaps doing the lessons toward the beginning of the year or Perhaps February, the beginning of the day may change the results.

This is a pretty universal lesson applicable to most students. Because I am musician, I might incorporate music into the lesson. For example, asking students to find a song that reflects their various moods, feelings, and emotions. Also, having students listen to music and identify possible emotions or how the music may or may not reflect their own emotions. They could also create a playlist that embodies a specific emotion or mood. This allows them to communicate without initially having to talk. I also think I would add a daily journaling opportunity. I think there is value in being able write in an unfiltered way.
