I believe the church is slow to change in regards to gender because of principle's that are believed. The principles believed are not the issue at hand, I think. The issue is how to go about living them in a socially acceptable way. The church moves more slowly at a leadership level than society changes, and therefore some policies, or beliefs that were at one point socially acceptable are no longer that way.

This policy was reversed in 2019. For the church that is very quick.

It was a very devastating policy for all members to learn about and in response many members LGBTQ+ and non LGBTQ+ alike chose to remove their names and records from the church.
