Sometimes you can be left with a partial piece of the second x chromosome, so it isn´t always completely absent. There is no actual cause as to how this occurs.

Since Turner's Syndrome is a chromosomal disorder there is no cure for this condition. Although there is no known cure for, there are however treatments that minimize its symptoms, such as human growth hormone. Available treatments can help resolve issues dealing with short stature, sexual development, and learning difficulties. Fertility treatment is necessary for women who want to become pregnant.

Turner Syndrome can often be diagnosed before birth with a prenatal test. During an Ultrasound something may be detected, which then leads to a prenatal test. Chorionic Villus sampling or Amniocentesis these then obtain cells from the unborn baby, which are then sent for chromosomal analysis. Diagnosis can also be confirmed by a blood test called a karyotype. This is used to analyze the chromosomal composition of the female.

The long term outlook for women affected by Turner's syndrome is relatively good. Those affected have a slightly shorter life span than average. Despite undergoing growth hormone therapy the majority of the women are shorter than the average. Although nearly all women with this disorder are infertile, or unable to have children, alternatives exist. Such as pregnancy with donor eggs and assisted reproductive technology.
