Radio Hosts and DJ's are a dying profession. The Department of Labor statistics expects a 4% decline in these jobs in the next year, but we are looking for people to replace the 4,000 Djs that retire every year. The median pay for DJ's was almost $21 dollars per hour last year!

Job requirements: Some of our higher paying openings require a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or broadcasting. However there are some openings that only require a GED! don't be afraid to apply!

Skills we like to see:

Interpersonal/business aptitude: Being a DJ requires you to be able to connect with an audience and market yourself

Computer skills: it is 2024 and this job is done almost exclusively on a computer

Persistence: this is a very competitive field, and it is not easy to rise the ranks

My analysis: I thought this was an interesting job listing because of the faith requirement. Was cool to see such a niche job opening in this field

This job is for country music lovers. We are hiring for a full time country radio host, as well as a high school sports play by play announcer. Interpersonal skills will be a must, as you will be asked to emcee local events and represent the company.

My analysis: This opening was interesting because it is not very high paying, and there is the added task of doing play by play for local high schools. They also just recommended some computer skill, in the application it didn't seem to be a required skill.

Requirements: Vast knowledge agriculture, Interpersonal skills are a must to establish relationships with local, city, and state officials.

This was another niche job posting i found that required prior knowledge as well as experience in radio and business. This posting required a unique person who not only is familiar with the ins and outs of the agriculture business, but then used that background to aquire a communications degree.

I read this article because there seems to be a divide in the industry when talking about what a DJ actually is. From this article i learned that DJ's used to be an employee of a radio company that would go on air and play/mix music for an audience. In the modern day however, the most succesful DJ's have leveraged the power of social media to market themselves. The profession has evolved into self employed individuals who play music at house parties, clubs, and festivals. Most DJ's now don't go to work at the same place every day, like a radio DJ of the past would. They are mobile and able to be booked for a wide variety of events. I think this new DJ is more what i was thinking about when i started this project. I don't want to work in the same office everyday. I want to be able to travel and have a fresh experience every day. These self employed jobs don't show up on indeed, so when i was doing research i got a little dismayed. But my further research revealed that this new age of DJing doesn't require a resume uploaded to indeed
