Definition and rules: We use the simple present tense when we are writing about something that is repeated, is always true or is happening in a future time.

The structure is (subject + verb + complement).

In the verb to be for the "I" it is "am", and for the "You/We/They" it is "are", and for the "He/She/It" it is "is", and for the subjects "He/She/It" a "-s" must be added to the verb at the end. When the verb ends in "-o, -ch, -sh, -ss, -s, -x, or -z" you must add "-es", or when it is a consonant and "-y", you must remove it the "-y" and add "-ies", or when it is a vowel and "-y", only the "-s" should be added.

Examples:

1.-Repeated: I go to the gym every morning.

2.-Always or generally true: Chile is a very long country.

3.-Happening in a future time: The train leaves at 6pm tomorrow.
