A fitness test for flexibility is the sit and reach test the purpose of this test is to see how flexible you are and measures how far you can reach, mainly targeting the lower back and hamstrings. This is where you sit on the floor with you legs facing straight forward, the whole of the underside of the legs should be pressed against the floor and your shoes have to be removed with your feet placed against the box. You can have a couple of practice goes and then you reach as far down the box from the measuring line as possible; Your score is measured in centimeters. The equipment for the test is not cheap averaging around £90 as it is only being used a mater of minutes for each person. The test is very practical as the equipment is light so is easy to move around. Also the test can be carried out anywhere where there is a flat surface. To be able to carry out the sit and reach test you need knowledge of the test.

the cooper run is the most effective way to test aerobic endurance. This test is where you run as far as you can in 12 minutes continuously without stopping. You then record the distance you ran.The equipment needed is something to measure how far the distance is and a set of cones for markers. place markers at intervals around to help know what the distances are. The positives are that a group of people can be tested at the same time reducing the amount of time spent doing it, however the quality of the best could be poor as each person needs to be motivated to carry on and not give up. everyone can do the test as it is recorded individually and each time you do it you will be able to improve and compare your results against old ones. it is for self improvement not to be compared to others. the test will take around 20-25 minutes as it will take a while to set up the cones and distances.

The skin fold test is to estimate how much body fat you have on different areas of the body. The equipment needed is a skinfold calipers. The test involves two people, one who's body fat is being measured and the other is the person measuring it. One person pinches the other persons skin at various different parts of the body picking up a double layer of skin and some of the tissue underneath, however not the muscle. The calipers are then applied to get the reading of how much body fat is pinched. Two measurements are taken one after the other and the mean of the two are used. There isn't much equipment needed for the test just the calipers costing £20- £100 depending on the quality you want. Also you need something to record the results down on. The test takes around 20 minutes to do and the skills needed are the ability to accurately pinch the skin to get the right amount of fat and tissue.

The one minute press up test is to measure upper body strength. You start with your palms face down on the floor and your toes against the floor with a straight flat back; your arms need to be shoulder width apart and your legs just slightly apart. whilst keeping the back and legs straight and flat you need to lower your body so your elbows are bent at 90 degrees you then push back up into an extended position and repeat this movement for a minute as many times as possible. The test is easy to perform and a group of people can all do it at once so the test doesn't take that long also you only need a flat space, something to time it and something to record the results down on; a mat may be required depending on the surface. The skills needed for this test is the ability to work for 1 minute without fatigue. this will test your pectorals, biceps and triceps.

The 30 meter dash is a test to see how quick you can run over 30 meters testing acceleration and maximum speed. The person taking part is allowed a short warm up and then will run a single sprint at there maximum, this is conducted over 30 meters. One foot behind the line and in a stationary position(without any movement) is the start position. There is a call of 3, 2, 1 and then go this is when the stop watch is started and as the person crosses the 30 meter line the stop watch is stopped, an alternative to the stop watch is timing gates, which is a precise stating and finishing time and is a lot more accurate than just a human and stopwatch as the timing device is started as soon as you pass through the beam and is stopped when you pass through the last beam at the 30 meter mark. The equipment needed is a running track or measuring tape, a set of cones and a stop watch or timing gates. This is a reliable test if timing gates are used, however weather conditions can be a big impact on performance. The cost of the timing gates are £200 +

The standing broad jump is used to test power in the legs. The person stands behind a line with there legs slightly apart they jump stating with both feet on the ground and use there arms to push themselves forward as well as bending there knees and extending to create power. After making the jump you need to land on both feet without falling over. The equipment needed is a tape measure, and non slip surface; you could also use a mat for a softer landing but that's optional. You do 3 jumps and the furthest is recorded. The test will only take around 10 minutes including a stretch , measuring and setting up the equipment. It wouldn't cost that much as you would only need to buy a measuring tape but if you want an even more accurate jump you could buy a long jump standing mat which costs around £10-£20. The skills needed are a good squat down and push up in the legs and a good movement in the arms to throw yourself forward and as far as you can. This test is quite accurate as long as you get the measurements correct.

The grip test is a test for strength. The Person holds the dynamometer next to there side with there elbow at a 90 degree angle holding the dynamometer outwards away from the body. The base of the dynamometer is rested on the heel of the palm and the handle should be gripped by the middle of the four fingers. The person then squeezes the dynamometer as hard as they can and holds for around 5 seconds without using any other part of the body. the only equipment needed is the dynamometer. The test doesn't take hardly any time only around 30 seconds as the actual test only takes 5 seconds and then you need to recorded the results. The cost of the test is only £30-£40 as the only thing needed is the handgrip dynamometer. The skills needed for the test is being able to grip as hard as you can for 5 seconds on the dynamometer. This test is good as it doesn't take long to do and isn't too costly, however the dynamometer needs to be adjusted to suit the person.

The advantages of this test are the timings might not be accurate if it is recorded by another person as it is there reaction time to start and stop the watch meaning human error could come into it. Also if you wanted a more accurate timing you could buy the timing gates. The equipment is easy to transport in a bag if you are using only a tape measure and stopwatch

The disadvantages of this test are if you wanted an accurate timing you could buy timing gates , however these cost £200 + so it is very costly and is only used for a matter of seconds. If you use the timing gates they can be transported in a car or van but will need a couple of people to carry it all.

The advantages of this test are it is easy to get accurate measurements as all you do is after the person has jumped record how far they have from the jump line to the back of there last foot and is easy to see progression as you can compare your results every time you jump. The equipment is easy to transport in a bag as you only need a tape measure and something to record the results down on.

The disadvantages of this test are you need good coordination to push your arms forward to create power as well as bending your knees and extending at the same time also it is specific to power athletes rather than snooker players for instance as it improves power. If the specific mat cannot be rolled or folded it will have to be transported in a car or kept in storage near the place of use.

The advantages of this test are it is very simple as there's only one thing to do, which is griping on the dynamometer and anyone can do it as the equipment is adjustable so one dynamometer fits all meaning you only need to buy one and everyone can use it if you are working in a group. Also the test can be dome anywhere and the equipment is easy top transport in a bag.

The disadvantages of this test are even though it is adjustable it might not be adjusted properly, which could affect the outcome of the results, so it could be accurate one time you do it and another time could be inaccurate meaning you cant compare your results properly. also the equipment could be quite costly for some people.
