We then combined some of our ideas to create a slide show of our pitch. Each small group chose one of the areas to focus on. They created the slide, wrote a script with what information they wanted to say during the pitch, and practiced it.

To kick off the event, we watched a slide show the reflected on the Author Event we were part of in November. This event was held to celebrate books that each group of students had written after participating in the Story Book Project at Herrick North Branch Library.

Students were able to reflect in real time during the Question and Answer session after our presentation. Several of the kids responded with, "Oh, we hadn't thought of that." These questions made them realize that there were things we still needed to hash out.

Before deciding a format for our presentation, we had to ask Ms. Adrienne what type of technology was available. We then decided to create a Google Slide Show.

After the presentation, Ms. Adrienne and Mr. Rob, the two Herrick Librarians, expressed to the students that they really like the idea of a VIP pass for the event, because we were all important for this process. Adrienne asked for the presentation to be shared with her so she could reflect back on our ideas. The kids are very excited to possibly see their solution ideas implemented next year at the 2026 Author Celebration!

As we went through the process, the children conducted interviews, discussed how realistic our ideas were, (the ice sculpture was not) and thought about expenses for the solution idea.
