How do you think having completed this session would influence your teaching practises in your classrooms?

I think with this sessions we will all have a new way of looking to our teaching style and try to do more things to teach in a better way. We will learn new techniques and also develop our skills and became much more professional than before. We have lots of things to learn from each other and we have this opportunity by this meeting. There are a lot of teachers from all over the country and they all have someting to share with others. Now we are sharing what we have, we are talking about our experiences, discussing rights and wrongs. Our lecturers are leading us on the way to became a better teacher. We are happy for this. Special thanks to them.

In your classroom, would you prefer using listening materials and activities in your coursebook, authentic materials and tasks, or a combination of the two?

I prefer a combination of two, because coursebooks mostly include only formal English and it is not sufficient. In real life people are talkink mostly informally with different accents. Most of the people talking English are non native speakers and with only formal English communicating with them may be not possible. They must be also familiar with non formal English and different accents. Because of this we must use the listening materials in coursebooks together with authentic listening materials.

Do you think the ideas or suggestions you have taken away from today can help you cope with that particular problem?

We get very nice ideas and suggestions about problems we mostly have in our language classses. First we focused on the problems and than the solutions. Headaches and painkillers. We worked as groups again and re-organise the groups and share what we have. Each group has brillant ideas about the problems and we all together tried to find solutions for problems. In the afternoon we get information about some very useful applications and prepare small presantations with them. We learned how to use them. They will also be helpful for us to cope with problems.

Do you find 'flipped classroom/learning' useful for reading classes in your context?

Flipped classroom seems very useful for learning reading and also for other skills. It can teach students to learn themselves, opportunities for revising, less lecturing and more interaction. These are advantages of it. But there are also some dis-advantages of it. It is time consuming, may not be suitable for all levels, requires technical devices and they are mostly expensive things. If you have these kind of devices and also your students have them and have internet connection it will be very useful and enjoyable for teaching.

What idea/approach about writing instruction do you think would be most useful/appropriate in your local context? Why?

Snack writing is the most useful one I think. Because it has short regular writing sessions andd it is easy for student to write short things. I mostly don't like writing long and tiring things. They will just write short freely things without thinking errors. I will like to do it I think. If you use the steges properly such as warming up them with some activities first then review section to clerify what they will do it will be more useful. Then they will do their tasks and share with others. Self correction and peer-correction will be used here. Then reflection will be done. I think snack writing seems much more usefull.

What ideas from the grammar session do you think would be most useful and appropriate in language classrooms in your area? What do you think the most appropriate/effective vocabulary teaching suggestion in today's session for a language classroom in your area?

For teaching grammar we can use freer, guided or controlled activities. In my area guided and controlled activities will be better because student are not so sufficient enough to overcome with grammar freely by themselves. Maybe guided activities will be better to give some freedom to the students. After some time when student improve their skills freer activities will be used.
Fof vocabulary teaching using similar spelled words in mother tongue will be a good idea. They can remember easily. Also finding different word, matching the words with the pictures are good activities for teaching. Remembering words after having seven repeat is also an interesting thing that can be used. The key word is practising a lot if you want to teach vocabulary.

What do you think the biggest and most common problem related to assesment in your local area? What do you consider the greatest benefit of being in a Professional Learning community for teachers of English in your local context?

Assessment is something mostly integrated with exams and tests in our area. Testing and exams are only a part of assessment pant it seems like the whole. Portfolios, self assessment, continious assessment and peer assessment rarely used I think. We also think only about evaluation and marking about assessment. I liked the term reflection instead of evaluation. It seems more cute, evaluation is a bit scary for us and students. We mostly evaluate students only to mark them but our aim must be discovering which topics learned/not learned, to see the progress of students, to check the understanding, efficiency of the techniques and methods, to give feedback and also evaluate. I think we must change something about our assessment process.
In my local context teachers have very limited opportunity to refresh themselves and discuss things about teaching. By PLC teachers will have an opportunity to come together share and compare about teaching English. They will discuss on comman learning and teaching problems and find solutions to them. May be they also try the solutions and then discuss about efficiency and usage of them. They will share what they know and if we catch the wind we will all force ourselves to be better teachers.
