The particle theory defines as the theoretical explanation for the interaction between particles. Particles is the universal term used for small building blocks of matter such as atoms, quarks and molecules. These particles interact with each other by pulling towards each other. They are always moving around, how fast they are moving around depends on physical state of the matter its self. ( the space between the particles make the speed of particles vary) Eg. the particles in a solid would have limited movement to only vibrations and not full movement. Liquids on the other hand are made up of particles that are spread out enough that they are able to move around slowly and due to the particles being spaced out in this manner, liquids don't have their own shape unlike a solid and cant be compressed like how a solid cant be either. A gas though can be compressed and doesn't have its own shape as well. Gas particles are extremely spaced out meaning the particles can move way faster which means it can easily spread apart like neither a solid nor a liquid. The reason why these states of matter start off from barely moving, to moving all over the place is because of the temperature of the environment that they are in. Heat=energy and energy is what powers the particles more. This is why when the temperature goes below 0 degrees Celsius, it causes water to freeze and when it goes to 100 degrees Celsius, it turns into steam. Heat causes the particles to spread apart while heat loss causes it to come together. Overall the particle theory defines as the theoretical explanation for the interaction between particles
